    My first batch

Just thought I would share the results with everyone. It turned out great. It's been almost 5 months since I started this batch. It has mellowed out, with the apple taste coming back, and all the sharp edges are gone. SWMBO loves this stuff :)

    One Beer for Life

So many choices. Each one special in it's own way. I'd be good with this.

    How long does sanitizer last

Thanks for all the answers. If it's going to be more than a day, or two, I'll just go ahead and make a new bucket full. Thanks again, Greg

    How long does sanitizer last

Hi all, I will be doing quite a bit of brewing in the next 6 weeks, or so. I have a week long fishing trip (with 12 other guys) coming up and I need to lay in a decent stock. I was wondering how long IDOPHOR sanitizer will last. If I bottle on a Tuesday, will it still be usable Saturday...

    Is fermentation time critical?

Jaybird, Seems like I need to get something in the fermenter. Probably start with a kit from the LHBS. If I like it, I'll work it a little. Then I'll just brew from the recipe. Thanks again, Greg

    Is fermentation time critical?

Helibrewer, Great to know. I am trying to perfect a "down and dirty" (sweet and fizzy) cider recipe. I have been using their (Whole Foods) bottles of unfiltered juice. The bonus is, I now have a bunch of 1 gallon glass "carboys". Greg BTW.. If you fly into Sutter, I am on your flight path...

    Is fermentation time critical?

Thanks for all the QUICK answers. I will be brewing on Friday. It's nice to know that I can let it sit for a couple of days, if I need to. Helibrewer, do you get your ingredients from our LHBS? They are moving to a new location, just west of where they are now. They should have lot's more...

    Is fermentation time critical?

Hi All, I have brewed a few batches of cider and I am ready to try my first batch of beer. But, I work some really strange hours and may not be home for 5-6 days at a stretch. If my beer stops fermenting and I'm not able to bottle it for a few days, will it make a difference? I am...

    My first batch

Well, It's been six weeks since I put this batch up. It has been at 1.0 for 3 days. I can still see a few bubbles rising, and the fermentation lock is bubbling every once in a while. It tastes like alcohol and very weak apple juice. I'm thinking about adding some splenda to sweeten it...

    My first batch

I rehydrated it with warm water for about 15 minutes. It's been about 24 hours now and it is bubbling away. High ABV is OK for me. I will, probably, sweeten half the batch with some splenda. The other half, I'll leave dry. Then I'll add some juice concentrate, bottle, and let sit for a...

    My first batch

Fizzycist, The martinelli's was just their still cider (juice). It comes in glass jars of 1.4qts each. My dad was going to use it for (non-alcoholic) spiced cider on Christmas. Greg

    My first batch

Will the yeast be able to eat the sugar that is sitting undesollved on the bottom? If so, will it take longer to brew. Thanks, Greg

    Hi from CA

Hi bill, I live in Santa Rosa, up behind Sutter Medical Center. Once I have some decent brew, I would love to swap a bottle or two, and get some pointers from you. I started my first batch of cider tonight. It'll either work out , or I'll have a LOT of apple cider vinegar to give away. 73 Greg

    Hi from CA

Hi all, My name is Greg and I'm from Sonoma County, Ca. My brother thought I would enjoy homebrewing, so he gave me a gift certificate to a local store. I will, eventually, brew up some beer. But, I am leaning more toward cider making. We have some pretty good microbreweries locally, but...

    My first batch

Hi all, I just started my first batch of cider. Hoping it turns out drinkable. I was wondering if I could get some feedback on the recipe I used. 4 gallons of Mott's apple juice 1.2 gallons of martinelli's cider (unopened left-overs from Christmas) 4# "Zulka" cane sugar 1# Light...
