    Barleywine stuck at 1.030

    O.G. was 1.090. The recipe says it should be 9.3% alcohol. It has been 11 days and been at 1.030 for the past 5 so I am thinking it is finished fermenting? What are my options here? It should have been down to 1.020 to get the 9.3%.

    Ok to vigorously shake fermenter after a week?

    I am fermenting a barleywine with and OG of 1.090. Its been a week, I was thinking maybe I would shake the fermenter around to oxygenate the wort some just beacuse I could and maybe it would give teh yeast a kick. Is this advisable at this point? I was planning on leaving it in the fermenter...

    thoughts on fermentation temps.

    I am brewing a barleywine and have been keeping the temps around 58 degrees. I know this is on the low end of the temp range for healthy fermentation but even at 58 degrees the fermentation is very active. I think if it was warmer like 65 or so it would become really messy. Could this be...
