    help with hazy water adjustment

Brewfather's water tool is pretty straightforward. Click calculate next to water. Change SOURCE profile by clicking the arrows button on the right, then click ADD. Enter your water. Scroll down to MASH and mess around with a couple numbers in the gypsum and cacl fields.. Goals: Get...

    Mash recirculation

If the bag is draped over the whole top of the kettle, the only way to recirculate is to get a hose over the top. I drill a hole in the lid for that and install this: https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/mashrecirculation.htm

Electric Brewing Supply - 360 Series 2-element Control Panel

Is that when the meter is in LOW Z mode or set to AC volts? When you put a load on the cable with the element, does it heat when the controller is calling for heat? If not, can you verify that the SSR is getting 12 VDC on the control terminals? If yes, can you verify that the red LED on the SSR...

    Brewing room ideas

I don't think it's an easy delineation these days. AIO is probably referring to full integration where none of the components can be swapped out with industry standard parts and maybe none of the components could be harvested for use in a new system. If that's what an AIO is, then I agree the...

Electric Brewing Supply - 360 Series 2-element Control Panel

Did you actually have a problem with the operation of the controller? I'm 99% sure that Low Z mode doesn't work on SCR (how the SSR works) circuits. What if you set the meter to AC volts? The reason your image1(2) is correctly showing 120v between L1 and Ground is that it's the hot line that...

Morebeer's new bottom drain brew kettles

I was dubious on the benefits of a bottom drain kettle until I had one. Now every time I demo a system that doesn't have one and I have to heave it over to my sink for cleaning, it gets further cemented into the "why did I wait so long" books. I'm not saying the kettles on legs, whether BB or...

Morebeer's new bottom drain brew kettles

No, it looks like it has a rotating pickup arm on the front wall. If you mistakenly were to look at the HLT you don't find the same port there but that's just water so no problem using the bottom for that.

Why do I get suck back at a stable temperature

Yeah, it's just so counterintuitive when you see it happen. When I was experimenting with the cold crash guardian (bladder bag) full of CO2, I got to visibly watch it happen. The initial crash would deflate the bladder about half way and then over the next 36 hours, the rest of it would deflate...

Advice for a cheap beginner brew

Unless you are too young to buy Vodka or in a place where buying it is impossible. Both or either may be true for the OP. If neither, gross.

how do you spread your wort in your AIO

If there is even a 1/2" of liquid on top of the grain as you recirculate, any method that lays the incoming liquid gently on top is fine, ESPECIALLY if it causes stirring on top. Yes, a full distributed showering would work, but that introduces more oxygen than necessary. I simply use locline...

Mashing with larger grain bill / high volume water

Stock all in ones have a pretty high level of temperature stratification for two reasons. 1. The area between the basket and kettle wall is stagnant. It cools off due to heat loss out of the sides of the kettle and also into the headspace. Since recirculation never causes flow in that area, it...

Mashing with larger grain bill / high volume water

Bags are great as long as you have a way to suspend it over the boiler for draining.

Mashing with larger grain bill / high volume water

I forgot that the foundry's malt pipe doesn't have a top flange so the swirly will go down there without any cuts. You'd just have to position the outflow of the swirly as high up in the liquid as you can reasonably achieve and that will keep that whole gap up to temperature and that will keep...

Mashing with larger grain bill / high volume water

Yes. I'm not just speculating. I've installed this solution in the Brewzilla, Vevor, and Foundry AIO's a few times each. Sneaking a tube down the gap will work but it definitely needs a hook on it so that the outflow produces a pretty strong stirring motion. I think the whirlpool would only...

Mashing with larger grain bill / high volume water

Splitting your flow will help big time. The concept is that you let the pump run wide open while the recirculation into the malt pipe would be about 20% (slow) and the other 80% of pump flow would go to a whirlpool return to keep the heat flowing to the space between the malt pipe and kettle...

    Diacatyl in British Ales

The main reason WLP002, or the Omega version "extra special" would kick diacetyl is if you have really poor temp control that puts it through rollercoaster rise during the day and cooling at night. Once it gets close to final gravity, that night cooling will crash it out too soon. Another reason...

Morebeer's new bottom drain brew kettles

I think as a brand, they think in ecosystems. They figure you'll go all bottom drain on the hot side and then the X3 conicals on the cold side.

    Anvil Spigot thread type?

The threaded end of those spigots are fully customized pieces. The nut only holds the machined and gasketed barb in place so anything that happens to thread on is lucky and thread tape is usually needed. I would generally just leave the barb in play and disconnect via the nut as intended.

Morebeer's new bottom drain brew kettles

If it's going into a conical anyway, the wort can be dirty and dumped after reaching pitching temps.

do all roads lead to hazies.

Well, it's a hazy in spirit or per BJCP guidelines but way more drinkable than what a fairly dominant portion of craft breweries are putting out.
