    Grains going bad

So I bought grains towards the end of July before leaving for vacation with every intention of brewing before I left. Time got away from me (I have a very busy baby!) and when we got back from vacation we got caught up with kitchen renovation, etc etc. My grains unfortunately are unfortunately...

    Input needed for first cider.

I'm no expert but I have made 3 batches of cider over the last couple of years. I've never used apple juice, just fresh cider from a local orchard. I don't know what the difference in taste apple juice Would be but personally I prefer as fresh as possible and apple juice goes trough filtration...

    generations of washed yeast

yes I meant saving money by using the jars of yeast. I wanted to make sure I understood the whole generation thing properly. I knew I could wash yeast from the original packet but I wasnt positive if I could wash yeast again from each jar I harvested. At $6 a packet that'll end up saving me a...

    generations of washed yeast

I recently washed a batch of wyeast 1056 and got 5 pint jars from it. So far ive used two for a pale ale and a blonde ale. My question is can I get a second generation of washed yeast from EACH batch?

    Loss of second generation yeast?

I am also curious what people have to say because I also just washed a wyeast 1056 and wondered how many times I can rewash each pint of the washed yeast I harvested and if it'll still work the same

    2 batches-double starter??

I washed and stored yeast from my last batch and tomorrow I plan on brewing up two separate batches but use the same kind of yeast. My question is do I double my starter (instead of doing 2 cups water and 1/2 cup DME DOING 4 cups water and 1 cup DME) and use two of my pint mason jars of yeast...

    Cider Experiment

I've made 3 5 gallon batches of cider. One was with champagne yeast, and the other 2 with Nottingham. I made each with cinnamon sticks and each one I added some extra sugar but not a lot. The best one in my opinion was the one with champagne yeast. It finished pretty dry and ended up being more...

Apricot Wheat Ale - Need advice!

I've never made a fruit beer so I can't offer you advice from experience but maybe you could press them or juice them and add it to your boil. I think (but I'm not sure) people freeze fruit for a period of time to sanitize it then add it to their secondary

    Honeysuckle experiment

oooh whats the recipe for that?? I have an ice cream maker! I am hoping for the best with this extract. Do you guys think the floral and sweet components of it would go well with a citrusy APA?

    Honeysuckle experiment

So I was inspired by someone on here wanting to use honeysuckle because I have it growing up my house. I searched all over the Internet to find a way to use it for secondary but people said making a tea with it turned green brown and earthy, and the vodka extract method would be too much...
