    Fruit Beer McMenamin's Ruby

The tartness should fade with time. I've had great success using fresh berries that I've frozen, then thawed, smashed and put right into my hop bag to catch all the plant matter and seeds. I put the berries in at flame out. My wife's favorite beer used to be the real Ruby, now she prefers...

    Fruit Beer McMenamin's Ruby

Nope I didn't take the seeds out, they were on the fresh/frozen berries that I brewed with. I did put a mesh bag on my siphon to filter the berry leftovers and seeds when I racked to my bottling bucket. This is still from what I brewed just about 2 months ago... recipe is: 4 lbs Briess Pilsen...

    Bulk aging vs bottle conditioning

I let everything sit in primary for a month. Unless I'm dry hopping or it's a style that doesn't need that long, ie: Bob's Session Mild.

    Extract Super high gravity

Some reading that I've done I found out that Muntons extracts attenuates more than Breiss extracts... Perhaps you wouldn't need to add any sugar with Muntons.

Using mother nature for cold crashing

I'm still a noob, is it the UV rays that will skunk a beer? If so... Something to keep in mind, UV rays travel through clouds... Anyone who's gotten a sunburn on a cloudy day can attest to that. (I have.)

    Honey Brown (clone)?

I'm a fan of Honey Brown! I used to drink it when I lived in Georgia and Hawaii, now I'm in Oregon where it's made and can't find it anywhere, go figure! I don't remember if I was drinking Dundee's, I do remember the bottle saying Oregon Honey Brown. I'd love a clone recipe...

Looking for and outdoor brewing setup

Ah great! I'd much rather spend $40 than $85-100! And I just so happen to have a Home Depot around the corner... Hello, instant gratification!

Looking for and outdoor brewing setup

I'm doing 5 gallon batches. I was thinking 10.5 gallons would be great for when I transition from extract to AG... If it's overkill then perhaps I should just get the Bass Pro... edited to say- I've read the threads on AL versus SS. I'm okay with AL. (This isn't meant to start that debate)

    Fruit Beer McMenamin's Ruby

I bottled last weekend. Put a couple bottles in the fridge yesterday and popped one last night. Great raspberry flavor. We just ate at McMenamins a couple nights ago one person in my party ordered a Ruby so I got a taste to compare my brew with the original. Theirs is very light in color and...

    Dark Mild Session Mild (E)

I brewed this on the 9th of this month and have almost gone through the whole batch. It's so good I can't seem to stay away from it and let it mature! I'm off to my LHBS right now to get more ingredients to brew it again! Thanks for the great recipe!

Estimated and actual OG differ a lot

Thanks for the reply and advice dcp27. I plugged the ingredients into some free online software I found this morning and the final gravity it estimated is right at 1.020. So I guess it's pretty much done as far as fermentation goes. I do think I'd like to add coffee. And with all the chocolate...

Estimated and actual OG differ a lot

Reviving the thread as I think I might have a stuck fermentation... I checked the gravity with my hydrometer tonight and it's at 1.021 at 60° F. Tomorrow it will have been in primary for 3 weeks. I'm not freaking out (drinking a homebrew right now :) ) , but would like some advice. Should I...
