You need a bigger pot and mash tun

    Glass or plastic carboy?

That is all in your mind, modern cans don't add anything to the flavor, back in the days of tin cans there was a difference. It is the can that gets you... there is no difference when you drink it from a glass and I'll challenge anyone to do the taste test.

    Oxyclean Question

I clean with scented Oxyclean.. it is not no rinse and I have never had the smell not easily wash off with a normal rinse. If the smell stays on glass you didn't rinse it well enough to begin with

advice on a PepsiCo branded co2 tank

Maryland they swap them also, just take it to a welding/gas shop and swap it out. I brought them a nice red Coke tank with stamps and stickers still on it and swapped it for a nice clean silver one full of gas. Unless you need your tank to be pretty why bother with hydro testing they give you a...

    Hop Bag Benefits?

I started using one for pellets a year ago, found better flow, chiller never clogs, less wort left behind in the pot, cleaner siphoning to the secondary, and most importantly much faster easier clean up.. other than that no reason. I don't use it for leaf hops.

ale guy wants to make lager

None, except how you ferment and age it. There are some good lagering posts in the forum, run a search and you will get plenty of reading material. Not rocket science, Lagers are more about patience and having the temp controlled place to ferment and store it.

Need advice on planning the pipeline

    How To Store Hops?

I have some that are two years old and still green and fresh looking.. You just have to keep in mind they lose potency over time so after a while you need to adjust for that.

The Agony of the line pop

So there I was putting my HLT on the stand to start my sparge with 200degree water.. The hose popped out as I was hooking it up sending a stream of near boiling water down my side from armpit to waist. I was wearing flip flops (don't worry my feet are fine) I do however, have a line of blisters...

    Dont forget the rubber....

I did the same thing with a rubber grommet on my first batch and stuck my arm (washed with Dial antibacterial soap) into the bucket to retrieve it, it came out fine... I have also while sampling during brewing, pushed stoppers in, used another and let it sit in the wort.. nothing bad happened...

    wort chiller flow direction

While convection plays no role in actually chilling , it does in how the wort sits in the kettle, so it will in fact be hotter at the top since the warmer liquid will rise. Why must he be stirring?

can I figure out an approximate final ABV ?

Not necessarily weak. Using extract you can usually assume you got very near the recipe OG.

    whats wrong with this lager?

I use flaked rice all the time (my favorite adjunct for lighter Ales and Lagers). Caramelization in a light beer can cause a cooked Marshmallow flavor or it could be the yeast. Like Ales, Lagers have no set fermentation time. How long are you giving the yeast before chilling to 52? are you cold...

Can I still use this malt?

The grain should still be good, unless there is enough sauce to color the mash you won't taste it, and boiling it will kill off anything the dog drool may have left behind.
