    Thanksgiving Celebration Ale

So I have been wanting to make a Rye Red ale for a while and I'm thinking it would be a great addition to a thanks giving celebration ale. Here's what I come up with. The hops are what I've got in the freezer. Do you think they will go well with this grain bill? Estimated OG: 1.064 (60%...

    Imperial Red Recipe

Thanks! I also forgot to mention that I have a good amount of harvested Conan yeast that I plan to pitch. And I do like that hop schedule and I plan to use Summit for bittering, but was looking more for which how to use at which times, so that they all pay off each other nicely.

So I'm going to make a strong red ale this weekend, and I have a lot of new(to me) hops coming in the mail. Galaxy, Summit, El Dorado, and Amarillo < only one I've used before. The grain bill will be simple, American 2-row and Crystal 80. Who has used these hops before and can give me...

Hop Stand American Blond Ale Revival

So I'm about half way through the keg now and I am very happy with how this one turned out. Because of lack of a couple hop varieties at my LHBS I decided to just go all cascade. But the aroma is very pleasant light and floral w/ some citrus, not much of anything from the light malt...

Hop Stand American Blond Ale Revival

I'm looking to, some what, revive the blond ale style among my friends. I love this style of beer as much as any other but it seems to be loosing traction, not only with my friends but within the craft beer industry as well (not really sure if that's a fact, just seems to be how its going here...

    Motueka Hops. Anyone used them?

Yah, I'd love to hear! I'm planning on brewing a Spring APA this coming weekend. I am going to use 100% pure maple sap instead of water, single malt (Marris Otter) and Centennial, Motueka, and El Dorado Hops. I'm trying to get a nice and light, but flavorful beer perfect for the warming...

    Kegging my first batch

Hey Guys, I am about to keg my first batch tomorrow! It's a irish red ale that aged for 2 weeks and than a 3rd on oak. Since I am used to needing to allow time for conditioning with bottles, do I need to do the same with a keg? Carbonate it, right off and let it sit for 7 to 10? Or once I...

    Conan IPA Recipe/ Hop Schedule

Thanks Bobbrews, Loads of advice here! Couple quick questions: - When Conducting a hop stand, how do you go about getting it down to 165? Do you use a wort chiller until down to the desired temp and then add the hops and stir occasionally until pitching temps are reached? - Also What is...

Grandpa Ray's Red (oak aged Irish red ale)

Awesome input! Thank you. I am using Heavy Road Oak Chips. Unfortunately I do not know where they are from. I have read a few threads that where people dump whatever alcohol they are soaking the chips into secondary as well. What do you think about this? I was thinking about sifting mine out.

Grandpa Ray's Red (oak aged Irish red ale)

So my Grandfather recently passed away. He was a great man, served in the army, raised 10 children, and put himself last in almost every situation. I am making a beer in his memory. I plan to share it with my family on the 1st anniversary of his passing. He was born in Ireland and loved...

    Smoked esb or pale ale

Does anyone have a good recipe for a smoked ESB or Pale Ale? I live in vt and the 3 Needs bar and brewery used to brew one, it was great, but they have stopped brewing for a while in their move to a new location. I miss it and want to try my own. Has anyone brewed one before?
