My milled grains have been sitting for a while, still good?

Agreed. I've have also re-milled older grain and did a BIAB session and it turned pretty good. Certainly not my best effort but it was drinkable.

    New nano comming to KCMO

That would be awesome! The only time I really get to lurk is while I'm at work and they have all social media sites, face book, twitter, even YouTube, are blocked. I feel for you in dealing with City Hall. Last year there was an attempt here to allow beer and wine tastings at a few...

    New nano comming to KCMO

Congrats on your success so far. I enjoy following up and coming breweries. Post some pics of your builds and progress. That way we can live vicariously thru your experiences!!! I'd be happy to provide QC for that Porter:mug:

What is to cold for fermentation?

COMMABEER, I'm sorry if I missed something, is this regarding the color of your fermenting beer??

    Leaky Home-made Wort Chiller

Duct tape!! Seriously, sweat on a hose connector and it will last you a life time.

    Ferm question

Jamming, I would'nt start to worry just yet. Keep in mind that there is quit a bit of Co2 still in solution after fermentation has completed. If you "dumped" your trub using the lower valve on your conical it's likely that you just roused it up a bit. Keep an eye on it for a bit and see if it...

If My Boss Knew How Much Work Time I Spend on HBT...

Ditto, but I did get caught reading Zymurgy sitting on post once. Got a little flack about that. Then caught even more hell for not sharing any brew with him. Go figure.

Bought First Kit...Any good ideas for easy first batch?

+ 1 Don’t get discouraged if your first few batches aren’t perfect, you’ll get there.

    distilled water

    Forgotten Rhizomes

Opps, I ment Fuggle and CTZ there. The only time I've ever transplanted was from Pot to ground. I would think that if you moved it while it was still dormant, and tried to get as much of the root system as possible it should be ok but I'm not sure.

    aeration filter

Great question!!! I was fix'n to ask the same thing.. What's the life span on the filters? $5-$6 bucks aint that much but no need to waste if you can help it.

    Turkey Fryer Pot

Man-O-Man that seems to be a seriously controversial topic around here! Search aluminum vs. stainless (which is better?) and you’ll find several threads about that. It really comes down to personal preference. That's like asking glass vs. plastic????

    Turkey Fryer Pot

I inherited an 8 gallon turkey fryer pot that was used for several years. I took some simple green and warm water soak overnight, scrubbed the h*** out of it making sure all the grease residue was gone. Filled with water and boiled for 90 minutes to cure it and I’ve had on problems with...

    First BIAB

12 lbs grain, Mash @ 1.5q per lb = 4.5 gal, all in a 6 gal pot! You talked me into it... Thank you...

    First BIAB

CRAP!!, My brew kettle is only 32qts, anyone know off hand how big a beer I could possibly make? Just stopped by the not so LHBS and picked up a large bag today hoping to try BIAB. May have to try a 3 gallon batch first to calibrate. May be the excuse I need to buy a larger kettle (I like that...

Is it OK to use cold bottled water to top off and cool my wort made from extract?

:off: Sorry I know, But is there a thread about this? Been curious bout this and wanted to give it a try..

    Bottle label removal

BAHAHAHA!!! You know that they repied with that because some fool actually tried it!!

    Question about non-beer bottles.

Uh.. I have some PET bottles that I use from time to time, but I buy new caps after each use. Those threads are good hidey holes for the buggies and a Bugger to clean. Twist top bottles have a tendency to leak on you and most brewers will tell you to stay away from them. Bite the bullet and...
