    yeast efficiency?

I was using an old analog thermometer and was getting super low FG like you were. I bought a digital thermometer an discovered my old analog thermometer was 8 degrees off. I checked both in boiling water to verify. So when I thought I was mashing at 152F I was actually mashing at 144F! Had a...

Secondary with fruit: How long to primary?

Agree with this and just do it in the primary bucket. No need to transfer.

Has anyone tried this quick-lagering method?

Hmmm, I have never heard this before.

    Oatmeal in a Milk Stout?

    Oats go into all stouts

    BIAB with Sparge?

I do a dunk sparge where I just throw the bag of grains into 170 degree water for 5 to 10 min while I heat up the wort. Then I squeeze it and let it drain in a mesh strainer. I don't get the best effeciency, but I attribute that to my LHBS. As you will find, there are many different ways...

Anyone else annoyed with newer breweries using cans?

Why don't you reuse the bottles? I'm not understanding the problem here.

How long does it generally take for a beer to carbonate in the bottle?

Hard plastic bottle isn't a guarantee that the beer is adequately carbed.

How do people store beer bottles?

Legal filing cabinet will perfectly store 6 6 packs. Keeps them clean and neatly stored away.

First All Grain Batch - Oktoberfest

Look up "swamp cooler". You can even make one in your bath tub and just keep swapping out frozen water bottles. If you use kolsch yeast and ferment low, like 58-62 F, you should get a clean, crisp beer. Bottle and carb then lager in the fridge for a month before you drink. Work with what...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Coconut Porter

Untoasted coconut is going to have alot of oils (fat) that you really don't want to add to beer. Toasting it enhances the flavor but also serves to, at least somewhat, cook off some of the oils.

Hopefully no home brewers make this mistake...

Dry hop the IPA and saison's aren't supposed to be hoppy or bitter anyways. Are you sure they are ruined?

Raspberry fruit beer - seeking help with procedures

2.5 lbso of frozen raspberries added to primary after fermentation had ceased and let sit for about a week. Cold crashed and had no issues with a messing rack. Beer is very raspberry forward with a pink color to it. It finishes with a tartness from the berries without being overly sweet or...

    2 liter for bottling beer?

This is my plan for my son's bday party, but I am going to pour the beer into growlers and put them in the cooler to give it a more "craft beer" look. The 2 litter Sprite bottles might turn those not in the know off.

    Peach wheat beer

I did a 5 G batch and used 3 lbs of frozen peaches dry hopped after primary ferm was complete. I let it sit for 1.5 weeks. The flavor was barely noticeable. You'll likely have to use peach flavoring to achieve a more pronounced peach flavor.

Zest of lemon. when to add??

Microwaving it is to kill any bacteria so you don't infect your beer. By soaking it in vodka you as also sanitizing it but at the same time the vodka will extract alot of the flavor.
