    A great simple recipe

Pit this together last nice. Added a third can of concentrate and 2 pounds brown sugar instead of 1 1/2 pounds. Also used Nottingham. OG 1.075. It's 24 hours later and have an almost constant bubbling in the airlock.

Day's saying...you can wish in one hand and **** in the other, see which one gets filled first. Also...I didn't raise them(his kids) to keep them

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

So I pulled one of the mason jars out of the fridge this morning to see how it is coming along. There defiantly seems to be large amount of trub left I the bottom of the mason jar. Maybe and inch or so. Any thoughts on if this is a normal amount? If it isn't, will it really matter when I go and...

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

Just tried washing yeast for the first time tonight thanks to this thread. It was Nottingham that we used for a red ale. Here's hoping I didn't mess up. Had some liquid left my large jar but not too worried about that.

    Bro's retirement

My brother recently retired from the navy after 20 years and me and sister are buying him alittle booze as a gift. I went to the liquor store and got a fifth of Knob Creek Rye (loves Knob Creek but has never had the rye) and Westmalle Trappist. Andy one had that Trappist before?

    What are you drinking now?

They are definitely hit or miss, but I enjoy their Oatmeal Stout and Coffee stout. Raspberry Hefe is NOT good. The make a hell of a bison burger and Gouda potatos au gratin.

Good to hear. I just got my tracking number on the order and can't wait to brew. I have way too many empty fermenters.

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

I went ahead and ordered through Austin Homebrew Supply. Since it is flat rate shipping, I just ordered the rest of the ingredients through there as well. I haven't worked with vial yeast before so went with Wyeast 3333 smack pack. Suppose to a comparable strain

Random basic question...for the extract version are you steeping any grains? Couldn't tell if you need to steep the Vienna Malt or not.

    Arrowhead Red-Itish Red Extract

Thanks for the info. I tweaked the recipe. Added Crystal 20, Crystal 40, alittle roasted barley and took out the Carpils. We are brewing this up tomorrow. On an unrelated note, this will be our first brew that isn't on a stove top.my dad gave me a propane burner he did use any more.

    A great simple recipe

Just FYI...I varied the recipe a bit. Added a third can on concentrate for more apple taste and put blueberries in the secondary instead of cinnamon sticks. Turned out awesome. My bro in law(brew partner) really liked it and he hates ciders. On a side note it will sneak up on you FAST.

Brand new autosiphon doesn't work!!!! ARGGGHHHHHH!

I just use a regular old racking cane. Never got an auto siphon to work reliably.

to much foam after about a month or longer

Could also be an issue with priming sugar not being mixed thoroughly enough. If this is the case some bottles will overflow and some won't.
