Same Grain Bill For Different Beers

With grist of 80% brewers malt (pale, 2-row, MO, etc) and 20% adjunct (wheat, oats, corn, rice or rye) you can do a simple blonde ale, or even a lager by pulling half the batch after your final kettle hop addition then add a ton of no boil, whirlpool hops and make a pale ale. Use a clean yeast...

    Slowest NEIPA fermentation ever?

gawd dont dump it. It'll be fine.

    Slowest NEIPA fermentation ever?

i think 1.017 on a NEIPA is a great final gravity. Even on west coast style IPA's some of my favorite beers have gravities of 1.018 (Anti hero) and higher. I say soft crash and then dry hop. It'll be fine. But I am also very impatient so I give you tons of credit for waiting.

Yeast for a Raspberry Wheat Beer

I just brewed a raspberry wheat on Saturday. I fermented with LalBrew West Coast Ale BRY-97. I have never BRY-97 it but I wanted something clean to bring forward the fruit. Another option and a yeast I am slowing starting to fall in love with is Gulo. It ferments super clean and super low. This...

    Ritebrew

So I primarily go through Riebrew. The prices are hands down the best. Im in the Chicagoland area so shipping is 1-2 days. I do want to say though I have had issues with a few of my orders. When I catch the error, I email and everything is rectified. The inaccuracies have never been too drastic...

    Simple Saison

not to complicate things... if you dont want to go through the hassle of boiling up a simple sugar then cooling it off, etc., you can just pour some Belgian Candy Syrup up in there. They have clear, which would be exactly what youre looking for.

Idaho #7 or Galaxy in a hazy?

Not to hijack or resurrect an old thread, but I am doing a NEIPA with Eldorado, Mosaic and I7. Do you do this, and how did it turn out?

How low is too low with Gulo?

I have never used Gulo, and never tried a beer made with it. But I wanted to try it. So i pitched it in my blonde which I usually ferment with s-05. The blonde is my first use of this yeast and I haven't tried a sample yet. I was starting to think of what to do with my next recipe... I figured I...

    When to Add fruit?

I would be very interested in the results of this. I am doing a cherry wheat for a graduation party. The parents wanted a fruit beer... I've only done one. I used 67% base, 33% wheat, fermented with a full pack of 05 and a half pack of Philly Sour. I've never used Philly Sour... I was a bit...

Looking to up the fruitiness in an ESB

since you're not doing fruit, sounds to me that you just wanna add some additional flavor via hops. I like ESB's and though it is not 'normal' to over hop an ESB, it is your beer and we all tend to make what we like. Toss some centennial and/or citra up-in-there at the end of the boil, or as a...

What are the best Cincinnati breweries?

Hmmmm... That is a shame. Like I said -I go to the Nati once a year or so. My last 2 trips were not Listermann stops. This past December I did Dead Low, (which I really liked), Mr. Carmel (meh), and Little Miami (it was ok). I just had such a great experience when I was last at Listermanns that...

What are the best Cincinnati breweries?

I used to live there, so when I visit family we always hit the breweries. I go like once a year now. Like everyone has said, Rhinegeist and Mad Tree are the big ones... As tall as the Rhinegeist brewery is, Mad tree is long.... Both have a ton of offerings and are above average to say the...

    Advice on grain bill

so it looks like you have about 9.25 pounds of a base malt and 2.5 pounds wheat. This gives a ration of about 27% wheat to base malt. I make a simple blonde ale with 80% base to 20% wheat. Its super easy and enjoyable across all spectrums of beer drinkers. The last batch I did used 20% flaked...

    Spike Fermenter users... Lil help?

@k-os Do you find there is a lot of waste beer in the cone of the Flex, or is it mostly trub? How many gallons of wort can you safely add to the flex+? Thanks

    Spike Fermenter users... Lil help?

I am in the midsts of looking how to make my own glycol chiller. I just bought an air conditioning unit off Facebook. However, if my math is correct, I can fit the two FLex+ in the refrigerator. So glycol today is not going to happen. The Spike line allows me to upgrade as time goes on. I was...
