Midwest Supplies has terrible shipping policies.

True, your order may not take a long time to pull and pack. But... this is a big but here. There was a 15% off sale from 05/19 to the 22nd. Online and in-store sale. And, to top it off, the sale fell on a weekend, starting on a Thursday and went through a Friday. Friday is pay day, people...

Midwest Supplies has terrible shipping policies.

So no matter what, its expected that all online orders placed between Friday and Monday should be processed before the end of the day on Monday? Even if the employees have to stay till midnight to pull and pack all those orders? All of the grains you buy, are measured by hand as far as I can...

Midwest Supplies has terrible shipping policies.

Disclaimer: nothing I say is saying its your fault. Too be fair I've had similar experiences with many other online shops (in general not just homebrew suppliers). Ordering on Fridays is never a great idea, no one is going to pick and pack your order on Friday and no one is working on the...

    Pellicle Photo Collection

I was super excited like a kid on Christmas morning when it popped up. "Sweet now I have a pellicle I can be proud of". Yours was stepped up bottle dregs as well? I wonder what makes the weird raisin skin looking stuff (as opposed to the other types of pellicles).

Do you need a 1 off Stainless part built for your system? Let's discuss it.

I take it by your suggestion to find a welder that bolting the handles on with some heat proof rubber washers (and a stainless steel washer over that) wouldn't necessarily be a good idea? (there are a couple machine shops around here I can call, and I have a friend who I *think* has all the...

Do you need a 1 off Stainless part built for your system? Let's discuss it.

Robust set of handles for a 50liter kettle? Couldn't pass up a deal on the kettle itself even though it had no handles and now I am trying to figure out a way to throw some handles on it (everything I find online seems to be for cabinet pulls and don't trust them to support even a 5 gallon batch).

    Game of Thrones

According to Emilia Clarke she didn't use a body double for that scene. They filmed the nudity at a separate indoor location, then cut her into the scene with th burning building behind her. So some film trickery but no body doubles.

    Pellicle Photo Collection

Jolly Pumpkin Calabaza Blanca dregs stepped up from 500ml to a half gallon starter and sat for a couple weeks. Can't wait to pitch this in a 5 gallon batch.

    6 week beer

This would be the first criteria I would apply in your (OP) situation. Its lame to brew an IPA just for competition if you hate IPAs. Anything relatively low gravity (less than 7%), and relatively lightly colored (less than 30SRM) are good candidates. Of course there are exceptions, but...

    Biere de Garde

That's why this style is insane. All the Biere de gardes I've had were pale/amber versions that were dry and spicy like a saison, nothing about them came off as lager characters. They were malty but definitely had major saison character.

Does it all depend on the yeast?

I've found this to be generally true. I've tried adding additional yeast to beers that weren't finishing the way I've wanted. The only time I've noticed it made a difference was when I added monster yeasts like Belle Saison or 3711 French Saison yeasts that can ferment tungsten. Rousing can...

Does it all depend on the yeast?

If I was to make a list in order of importance. 1. Yeast, pitch rate, freshness, strain of yeast 2. Grain bill recipe and percentage of simple sugars 3. Mash Temp I've had plenty of beers I mashed at 158-160F that still finished low and dry. I've also had beers with lots of crystal...

    Budweiser is changing it's name

We aren't? Edit: Just for clarity, is really 100% our fault that everyone refers to USA as America and its citizens as Americans? Just in normal speech, are you gonna always spell it out as USA, that's sort of awkward, the idea gets across, but its sort of weird to always spell it...

    Game of Thrones

I think the more likely explanation is the dragons are just smart. It's stated multiple times that dragons are at least as intelligent as humans, if not more than humans. The dragons assessed Tyrion determined at worst he's too small to be a threat and they could eat him at their leisure if he...

    Cutthroat Kitchen is stupid

First thing I will say, your criticisms are not unfounded. But I would say that you went to the theater expecting a thriller/drama but got a comedy. Just because the comedy wasn't a thriller/drama that you expected doesn't make it a bad comedy(unless the movie is specifically billed as a...

Hop Stand vs. Boil Addition | exBEERiment Results!

I think he has stated that they plan to move on to multi variable tests after they get through all of their single variable tests. I am excited to see what happens, particularly if they don't reach significance. The single variable tests are easier to isolate what cause folks to be able to or...

What process / technique / piece of equipment has improved your beer the most?!

Buying a house rather than renting. Stay with me here, I know a 100,000 dollar(my house was actually much less than this I am picking a number out of thin air) piece of brewing equipment sounds absurd. When you live in a college town moving every year is basically a way of life, the slum...
