    Forgot Irish Moss in boil

I'm not sure you would know this off the top of your head, but how much do you think running an additional fridge would add to the electric bill. I'm assuming not too much, but that's been a big factor between me and my brewmie.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Hella Vanilla Cream Ale

I'm so excited to try this beer. The brew went very smooth. Even substituting the extra 2-row for the DME, the beer was fairly dark. Not too bad though. It has a very rich almost reddish tinge to it. Idk if its just my process, but this beer seems to have a low-ish efficiency. I followed the...

    Forgot Irish Moss in boil

Only problem is not everyone, including myself, has access to a spare fridge.

    Forgot Irish Moss in boil

Thanks! I also hear gelatin works well in the secondary.

    Forgot Irish Moss in boil

Hey guys. My problem is pretty much in the title. My brew is cooling as we speak, and I thought I would sit down and type my recipe into my folder. I typed in Irish moss, and realized I never put it in the brew. I know that isn't the biggest problem in the world, but this is a light cream ale. I...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Hella Vanilla Cream Ale

Gotcha! Thanks for the quick response. I read it just in time. In heading to my LHBS in about 10 minutes. It'll be a good brew day today. I'll let you know how it goes!

    What are you drinking now?

For the record, I'm not here to defend Leinenkugels. They make cheap beer. This isn't labeled as Leinenkugels. Like the brand or not, if you can at least find it in a single bottle, it's worth the few bucks to try it.

    What are you drinking now?

Seriously. What a fantastic beer. Big Eddy's Russian Imperial Stout. This is by far the best Leinenkugel beer I've ever had. But at $14 a four pack I would hope so. This is a must have for anyone that likes stouts. I'm partial to my Dragons Milk (I live two minutes from New Holland Brewery.) but...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Hella Vanilla Cream Ale

Hey. I'm relatively new to brewing. Is there a way to substitute grain for the DME? If so, what type of grain, and what would the weight difference be? Thanks!

    What are you brewing?

One of the HARDEST decisions of home brewing is of course, "What beer should I brew next." If thread should be used as list for reference. Just list: What type of beer. How many gallons. Have you brewed this in the past. Taste notes. Thank you all! I'll start. I currently have 3 gallons of...

    Glass carboys, real talk.

If you would have taken the extra thirty seconds to read my post. I said I'm NOT saying one is better than the other. Please read before commenting. Cheera

    Glass carboys, real talk.

Ok, so I'm sitting back reading the, "Broken Carboy" thread and it really gives me a headache! Here's some simple advice. The most common thing I read was "I use a carboy handle and I can see the stress fractures." Ok, fact #1: Carboy handles ARE NOT meant to move FULL carboys. They are for...

    First Time Racking

So it looks like what me and my brewmie are gonna do it pick up a second sealed fermenting bucket as well as a bottling bucket. In the near future I would love to get another carboy, but I won't have the fund in the time frame needed before racking. Our LHBS offers very low prices for buckets...

    First Time Racking

Awesome!! Thanks for the help. I was planning in picking up an auto siphon on Friday before racking. Only other question. Has anyone just used a bottling bucket as a secondary fermenter? Or is that not proper? Just curious. Thanks again!!

    First Time Racking

Howdy Beer nuts! It is about time to rack my very first all grain from the primary into the secondary. It is a chocolate milk stout. I know not everyone does a secondary with stouts, but I would like to. I'm not certain of the best way to siphon from a carboy to a fermenting bucket. My fear...

    Hello from the Big Mitten

Hello all, My brewmie and I have a nice little system we just started going on in our basement. He does mead and wine, while I do beer. I used to do Mr. Beer kits and was incredibly disappointed every time. About two weeks ago I decided that enough was enough, I wanted to switch to all grain...
