    Serving a Hefe @3.8 vol

Warden, thanks for the link. I just ordered a pack of 10 from Graingers. Rev, I like my beer cold and my Hefes on the fizzy side. With the serving fridge at 35° and 20 psi for the Hefe setup I have about 20 feet of 3/16. This hack is going to be perfect for my away Hefe setup.

    Serving a Hefe @3.8 vol

I have 20 feet on my kegerator for the dedicated Hefe tap but wanted to know if there was a hack or trick to serving this high volume on a shorter picnic tap. This is for a 3/16 line. Thanks in advance

Filling my own 5lb CO2 tanks

Looking to build my own fill station and was wondering about the steel braid used in the prebuilt ones on ebay. Anyone know where I can get the high pressure hoses necessary to handle the temps and pressures of a CO2 tank? Is it just cheaper and easier to buy the premade stations? Thanks!

    Structure Build Help

Cool! BobbyM likes my design :mug: No issues priming the pump from the BK. I almost always do 10 gallon batches so the level in the BK will always be higher than the level of the pump. I specifically positioned the pump (output on top) lower than the height of the BK valve.

    Structure Build Help

You have many options each with their own pros and cons. I have a 2 tier rig with the MLT (cooler) and HLT 32" high. I use the pump to transfer from HLT to MLT. The BK is on the lower section 8" high and use gravity to drain the MLT to BK. The pump is used with the IC for recirculating...

    Barley Crusher Cleaning Question

+1 Who ever told you to rinse the mill with water? I would imagine that the flour would cake on creating a big mess. Get a soft wire brush and clean the rollers.

    Cost of repairing a fridge/freezer

I regularly scan Craigs list for sweet deals for freezers or fridges. Some of these are in pretty good cosmetic condition and are going for the right price (free!). The only thing is the unit does not get cold. What do you suppose the average costs are for repairing these units? Cost of...

    MLT; cooler vs keg

Thanks for all the great insight. I think I'll stick with the cooler setup considering how heavy 24 lbs of wet grain can be.

    MLT; cooler vs keg

Hopefully, this is in the correct forum. I currently batch sparge using an Ice Cube cooler for my MLT. Now that my 2 tier brew cart is set up I was wondering if I should to go with a 3 keg setup. What are the advantages of mashing in a keg? BTW. I always do a single step mash.:rockin...

    Breweries and Introduction

It is hard to determine the scale of your vessels on first pic of your second setup. Do you have a pic with your new setup next to a standard keg? 180 liters is just under 50 gallons. Damn, you Aussies drink a lot of beer!:cross: My 10 gallon batches (~1.054) takes about 23 lbs of grain...

Mounting an outlet/switch to brew cart question

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I think I'm going to pick up a GFCI extension cord and connect that between the brew cart box and the wall outlet. It will keep the cost of the brew cart project low and I will have the GFCI cord for other outdoor uses.

Mounting an outlet/switch to brew cart question

No GFCI, I'm going to be using the combination outlet switch in the first image. Is it necessary to have GFCI? I'm currently using a extension cord set up without GFCI. The GFCI products are pricey.

Mounting an outlet/switch to brew cart question

I planning to attach a 2 outlet/switches to my brew cart to control the March pump and recirculating pump (a'la Mr. Malty). I thought I would get some feedback before I electrocuted myself. My plan is to attach a 2 gang box to the brew frame and use 2 combination switches. The switch is...

where the hell do you guys get your 1/2 barrel kegs ???

I saw a few at the pawn shop in my area when I went to pick up a turkey burner. Got the burner for $20. They were selling the kegs for $35.

    New IC build

Very nice! How about a close up of some of the soldered joints? I have a whole new appreciation of the skills involved in welding when I struggle with clean solders!

    2 tier rig; DIY special

Thanks for the improvements to the design. I will definitely be implementing them before the next brew.

    2 tier rig; DIY special

Using ideas I found on various boards I finished my 2 tier stand today. Just need to get some cement board for the bottom shelf and the space to the left of the HLT burner. I plumb in the gas lines for my next enhancement.

    2 tier build plans

The edge of the BK is ~4 inches from where the sculpture begins to rise. One side of the MLT is 13 inches from the HLT. I plan on resting the MLT on a piece of cement board. Hopefully, this will shield the plastic cooler. Otherwise this will accelerate my progression to a 3 keg setup.
