Low OG on 90 minute IPA clone

The low OG reading could also be caused by separation of the wort and not completely swirling... did you pour water on top to reach your final volume? This happened to me for my first brew, and the reading was off by a quite a bit. Also don't forget your temperature compensation.

    My First APA

I bottled about 2 weeks ago, the taste is very citrusy and refreshing... and only gonna get better :mug: edit: there's still a little chill haze going on, which might clear up. mostly just from condensation though

    My First APA

Yeah, if I was to brew this one again (and i probably will) I'd just do primary. It was only my second brew, first one picking out my ingredients, and I racked into the secondary on my own. It was a bit cumbersome, and by the end I lost the siphon and couldn't get it to suck up the last little...

    My First APA

I posted this in the recipe forum, and then saw that all the other recipes are pretty well established and brewed by many people. I figured posting it on here would get more responses... sorry for being a noob (and mods can feel free to delete it from the recipe page if necessary). I sampled one...

    Mad River Pale Ale

Here's the recipe I posted on tastybrew, let me know what you think of it. I'll put a picture of the pint up within the next week or so when I take another tasting. :mug: edit: tastybrew claims the ibu is 49, but that seems pretty high. Beer tools says 39, which may be more realistic. %Weight...

What are you drinking and loving? I need some brewing ideas!

I recently tasted my first Kolsch (reissdorf) and really liked it! Great for these hot summer days. I'll probably end up brewing some of that eventually

The quickest you've ever drank a batch

This is my first thread on here (great site!), and I'm writing because I'm concerned about my well being and the longevity of my first batch. :drunk: From the time you brewed it (and/or started drinking it), what's the fastest you've ever drank an entire batch? Doesn't really matter whether...

What is your "go to" hop variety?

Amarillo is similar to Simcoe i'd say (maybe not as intense)... both are quite citrusy/piney. Stay away from those, maybe cascade too, if you don't like that flavor

HELP! My fermentor is way too hot

My batch was getting up in the high 70's the other day, so I went with the wet towel method someone mentioned on here. Wrap it up in a damp cloth and the evaporation will cool your fermenter down. Put a fan on next to it to force some more convection if its not cooling quick enough. I got mine...
