    safe to bottle?

This was just another paranoid post. No bottles burst and the one I sampled last night was well carbonated and very tasty even green. Now all I have to do is try not to drink them all before St. Patrick's day.

    safe to bottle?

The OG was 1.074, it was a John bull 1.8 Kg can with a bag of corn sugar. I had at 68* F the first day until it spewed krausen out the air lock so I moved it to the basement at 62 and it slowed down. After 2 weeks I moved it back to the 68 room and agitated the yest cake and it sped up again.

    safe to bottle?

I thought I was ready to bottle my IPA, 3 hydro readings of 1.006 but the air-lock is still bubling about every 2 min. is this just co2 coming out of solution or from the yeast cake? It has been in there for just over 4 weeks. I want to trust my hydrometer but I have visions of bottle bombs...

I worked this up on tasty brew from my vague memories: 6.5 boil, 5gal batch, 70% efficiency 5# Munich(light) 4# Six row(pale) 1.5# Flaked corn .5# 60L Crystal 1oz. Centennial first hopping I'm not sure what kind of hops I can get, I just heard of a LHBS that isn't 2 hours away but I...

    manifold v.s. false bottom

I built my MLT today.:rockin: I went for the stainless braid and got all the parts for less than $30.00 using 1/2 inch parts including ball valve, I even got extra o-rings and 2 stainless braids just in case. I ended up making a 9" diameter loop with a barbed "tee". I wanted to try a false...

    Hobbit Brew?

I have a crazy idea for Ent-wash. Would it be possible to use maple sap for a "wort"? My grandfather has property with plenty of sugar and red maples and he has made syrup before. It might be more of a maple cider or wine, Im not sure, but I have a couple weeks for research before the sap...

    manifold v.s. false bottom

I just thought of something, which one would be better for using flaked corn or other adjuncts? Or would the right rest schedule take care of that?

    manifold v.s. false bottom

Thanks for the great replies. Daab's false bottom plate looks like a good start, but steel braid is so cheap I could try both by getting the same size fittings to interchange them. My sparge method will be batch to start but I might try leaving the grain bed submerged between batches of sparge...

    manifold v.s. false bottom

I want to build a mash/lauter tun with a 5 gal. rubbermade drink cooler but can't decide between a manifold or false bottom. I'm comfortable with fabricating something and not worried about price. What are the merits of each one? Give me your opinions and horror stories too, I crave information.

It might not be a clone but it looks worth a try. I like the format of the recipes too, makes me wish I could find that water report.

I know it is a long shot, but is anyone familiar with Loyalhanna Lager from Latrobe Brewery? There has not been any since 2004 or 2005, even before they sold everything but the brewery to Anheiser Bush. I found some recipes for american amber lagers but it isn't a well defined style from what I...
