    IIPA Critique/Help

I agree. I think I will double the dry hops or at least 1.5x what i have now. Also, thinking about switching out Summit with Nelson Sauvin because I just got a pound in the mail. Thoughts?

    IIPA Critique/Help

Thank you for the reply. I've heard that about summit too, but I've used it quite a few times without the onion flavor everyone talks about. I've used it as a dry hop addition as well. Maybe I'll leave it at one ounce and then up the rest of the dry hops to two per your advice. Thanks again!

    IIPA Critique/Help

Hi Everyone: I'm going to be brewing a double IPA with my brother on the 25th. I've looked at quite a few recipes on here and this is what I came up with. Any advice/suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance! Somos Hermanos IIPA Batch Size: 10.00 gal Boil Size: 12.57 gal Color: 9.4...

    Strong Dark Saison

Upright Brewing out of Portland makes a Dark Rye Saison called Six that is pretty amazing if you ask me.

    Yeast Bay--offering some Brett blends

I got mine in yesterday as well and the ice packs were melted but still felt cool. I had USPS hold on to it for me. Can't wait to get some Northeastern Abbey going!

Saison How Rye I Am (Rye Saison) - 2011 - 1st Place Best of Show - HBT Comp

I think I'm going to try something similar to this recipe, but I'm going to use The Yeast Bay's Saison Blend instead of 3711. It's a monster attenuator as well, I brewed a 1.065 pumpkin saison with it last Saturday and last night it was already down to 1.008. Cheers!

    Saison Cottage House Saison

Mine stalled and then started up again a couple weeks later. I moved it to a closet inside my house and temps were in the mid 70s. I'm sure me moving it helped too since I most likely sloshed it around a bit. 3724 is a finicky yeast but the end results are worth it! Good luck!

    Saison Cottage House Saison

I don't have any pics, but I have two kegs of this on right now. I brewed 10 gallons and split the batch with 3711 and 3724. The 3711 is almost gone, and the 3724 is just a week in to the keg. The 3711 sat in primary for a month, and the 3724 took a couple months to finish. I really like...

    Saison Cottage House Saison

I love this beer! It's all carbed up and on tap...the Belgian 3724 is still finishing though. Thinking I'm going to repeat this recipe but with the saison blend from The Yeast Bay.

    Fermentation Chamber Heating Source

And then you just cover your carboys to prevent the light affecting them? I'm really leaning towards this seed mat that I posted, just wondering if anyone that has experience with these and if they can reach temps of 90 degrees for a 15 cubic foot freezer. Thanks!

    Fermentation Chamber Heating Source

Hi All, I recently built a fermentation chamber and am preparing to find a way to heat it for Fall/Winter. I have researched and it seems like an inexpensive way to do this is to buy a reptile or seed sprouting mat. I ran across this one on amazon and was wondering if this would suffice to...

What came in the mail for you today?

8 vials of artisanal yeast from The Yeast Bay! This will be my first time using their yeasts, so I'm pretty excited! Cheers!

    Yeast Bay--offering some Brett blends

Placed my order 5 minutes after the sale went up. I only got one of the pre-sale yeasts, the Farmhouse Sour Ale, but I also ordered the Vermont, Willonian, Funktown, and the Saison Blend. Anyone have experience with any of these? Until I saw this thread today, I was unaware of the yeast bay...

    Saison Cottage House Saison

Hey serum...mind posting that recipe? I took a gravity sample the other day and this tastes great. I think a more sessionable version would be fantastic!

    Clogged dip tube

Update: I ended up using the spare stainless braid from my MLT and it worked like a charm! I now get to enjoy Biermuncher's Sacred Summit Pale Ale! It is soooooo good, thanks everyone for your help!

    Clogged dip tube

I tried cutting off an inch of dip tube and it's still clogged. I guess dumping 3 ounces of dry hops was too much. Next I'm going to try putting something over the dip tube like a hop bag or maybe use a part of my old stainless braid from my mlt. Any other suggestions? I just want to drink...

    Clogged dip tube

So you think using my auto siphon would create too much foam? I was just thinking about opening the keg and siphoning it to a new one. Also, I'm using pin lock kegs if that makes any difference. I do have a socket to take it apart.
