    Lagering in the keg

Thanks so much. Definitely not in a rush, just not sure how to proceed. I have a MacGyver'd jar/ mylar bag monstrosity that I can fill with CO2 to back fill during cold crash. I seems to work well at keeping O2 out and even better at raising my blood-pressure when I have to mess with it. So...

    Lagering in the keg

Hi all - Apologies if this is already covered somewhere - if so, a pointer is appreciated - but after some searching I am coming up with some conflicting info. Doing my first "lager" - it was really a SMaSH with Maris Otter and EKG, but I decided at the last minute to try out W-34/70 instead...

    Returning wort to kettle

Thanks all for the input. Agreed that this is pretty trivial stuff that won't really impact final output overall. Just random musings while I'm watching the wort boil...

    Returning wort to kettle

Thanks so much! I don't fully follow on the 2nd one. "if it's got a decent SG" - meaning if the drippings in the bucket have a decent SG? Sorry, new to this. I would have thought squeezings would have, if anything, a higher SG? I was thinking of 2 scenarios: 1) I realize I missed my volume...

    Returning wort to kettle

Hi all - I hope all is well. Two random musings that have come up while brewing some of my first BIAB batches: 1) Any reason for or against returning a preboil sample? I take about 250ml and let it cool. You can see the cold break happening in the sample. Since there's been a cold break, would...

    Dropping Temp In Early Fementation

Thank you. Got it down to about 70 within a couple hours. Wasn't sure if a quick temperature drop might stress the yeast more. Guess ill take it down to 68 or so then back up to 70 for a nice long cleanup period.

    Dropping Temp In Early Fementation

Through a misstep, I ended up pitching US05 into 73 degree wort and didn't chill it down as I'd meant to before active fermentation started. It's about 10 hours since pitch and it is already actively fermenting. I know this it at or little above the higher end of the range for US05. Is it best...
