Session Double IPA - Heavily hopped with low abv?

Yep this is pretty much the idea. @ m00ps: around 3 or 4 oz a gallon

Session Double IPA - Heavily hopped with low abv?

I don't think that's true.. Most of the Double IPAs I've had were overly malty (toffeeish) and sweet which make them nearly undrinkable. I had Nordic Pines from Ithaca beer co yesterday and thought wow what a waste of hops and incredible pine flavor that i can barely notice. That's the whole...

Session Double IPA - Heavily hopped with low abv?

Hi guys, Stupid question, but i'm wondering what a Session Double IPA is? Heavily hopped with low ABV? What do you call a 4-6% IPA that is around 120-130 IBUs? That's how i like my IPAs, double the hops without increasing the grain bill from a standard or session IPA. I feel like the higher...

How important is clear beer to you?

I actually like having a hope haze in my beer, it tends to add extra flavor

    Forgot to add hops!

How can you forget hops? We're you :drunk: ?

    California Lager Yeast = Fail

It's been 4 days now still nothing. The yeast was at room temp when i pitched. Don't know about the date, but I bought the yeast about 1 month ago so pretty recent package. :beard: I know i'm impatient but I've been used to S04 which takes off almost immediately I'm going to pitch the ale...

    My first brew

Add a huge amount of dry hops, it will cover any off flavors due to the heat

    California Lager Yeast = Fail

Will it ever take off / attenuate correctly or will it just take longer? I'm tempted just to pitch and ale yeast now since there's still nothing.. I have some S04 and 05 ready to go

    California Lager Yeast = Fail

Thanks for your feedback all, I'm such a noob... I don't have any more of that yeast i would add more if i could. Don't have any nutrient either. Other question: why does 3 gallon in a 3 gallon fermenter require less yeast than 3 gallons divided into 3 1 gallon fermenters?

    California Lager Yeast = Fail

Hello, After about 10 batches of IPA, DIPA and APA, I decided to give it a go with Wyeast 2112. Almost 2 days in and no activity. I think I screwed 2 things up: -I did 3 gallons divided into 1 gallon carboys. I divided the smack pack into 3 carboys. After using a pitching calculator...

How would you dry hop this?

Hey guys, I did a 3 gallon batch IPA and put them into 3 different 1 gallon carboys. I used S-04 yeast in 2 of them and US-05 in 1. How would you dry hop these if you were me? Should i do the 3Cs in all carboys or should i do all columbus in 1 all centennial in the other? What would it...

    Post your infection

@arnobg That's what it should look like when the krausen is dropping co2 bubbles and yeast rafts

    Insanely Low OG

Hey, What's your recipe? How much grains quarts/lbs? What was your pre boil gravity? Did you measure it?

    Airlock question

I had US04 blow off my foil a few days ago
  16. L

    Airlock question

Same here, Foil for the first 3 days (or blow off if needed) than back to regular airlock

Dry Hopping - particles flying around after 10 days

Nothing's wrong, if you can't crash cool it, you'll just have a hop haze... No big deal i actually like it like that (more hop flavor imo)

    Overshot OG

If you don't want this to happen again take a pre-boil gravity reading and top off to reach your targetted pre-boil OG. Easier to do with a refractometer. Or adjust the hydrometer reading by temp. If you know your boil off rate, you will hit your targetted post boil OG consistently. For...
