Bulk lagering an ale then bottling

I’d get it off the cake if you plan on leaving it to go another month.

First time brewing with RO and Bru'n, what went wrong?

I think they sell it as just RO water, however, I have no idea you may well be right with that. I will ask them if it is RODI when i go back.

First time brewing with RO and Bru'n, what went wrong?

I don't have an actual profile for the RO water I use, however, I get it from an aquarium shop which has a huge RO system and the shop has quite a good reputation. I'll definitely ask them for a report on it though. Ah, well I was actually brewing a witbier with no crystal in it, so perhaps...

First time brewing with RO and Bru'n, what went wrong?

My pH reader supposedly has auto temperature correction but yes to be safe, I cooled the samples to near room temp.

First time brewing with RO and Bru'n, what went wrong?

Hi guys, Would be great if someone could help me dial in what exactly went wrong so that I can amend it for next time. So today was my first time building my own water profile. Seeing as I'm using 100% RO water I skipped the first tab (water profile) I also left the second tab as the...

    refractometer vs hydrometer ???

Because distilled water should always read 1. If either your refractometer or hydrometer don't read 1 whilst testing on distilled water then you know they are not accurate. For instance, my first hydrometer I ever bought read 0.990 in distilled water. So I then knew to add on .010 on to each...

Hallelujah!! The day has finally come, goodbye bottles!

Yeah can’t wait to pull that first pint. Just a quick one, whilst I have some keggers here. Whats the deal with kegging and cold crashing. Im super anal about clear beer, I love my beer to be super clear. so I’ve been cold crashing, adding gelatin and then bottling. I was planning on now just...

Hallelujah!! The day has finally come, goodbye bottles!

I've just ordered a 3 tap kegging system with keggerator and 3 new kegs. Over the moon! With a bit of luck my Irsh red that's been in the ferm chamber a few weeks will be the first to christen the kegs. Extremely excited, it's like being a kid at christmas again. Cheers :tank:

    refractometer vs hydrometer ???

This is he first I’ve heard of this. I’ve been taking the gravity my refractometer gives me pre ferm with no adjustments for all my brews, whoops! I’ll have to start following that guide.

    refractometer vs hydrometer ???

I use refractometer pre ferm and hyrdo post ferm. Man I’d love it if refracts worked post ferm without calculators.

Ok thanks guys, I expected it was a bit over the top. I’ve resorted to using kai’s stir plate option for calculators, it seems to fot closer to what I’d expect. Thanks for the replys

    What Temp

Crush your grains if not already crushed, pop them all into a muslin bag (not a must but makes removing them a whole lot easier) heat your water to around 152F and pop them in. Let them sit for 20-30 mins. I say 152F as a few degrees below or above will be fine. During the steep just try not to...

    Bottle questions.

Yeah both the beersmith and brewersfriend calcs have never failed me. I believe a scotch ale usually has between 1.5 - 2.2 for carbonation level. I may be wrong though. In the calculator just input your the amount of beer you’re bottling and the temp it was fermented at plus your desired carb...

Run into a problem with yeast calculator, advice needed.

So this Sunday or the Monday I will be brewing a highly hopped witbier. Its a mix of a classic wit and an IPA, apas its called a white IPA. Anyway, as usual I got my yeast (WLP400 Belgian Wit) and proceeded to make a yeast starter. On the package it says MFG 18 oct 17. So I input ale yeast...

Calling on the HBT community’s help with first clone!

Ive been meaning to try a whirlpool hop addition. The thing that stops me is that im a huge clarity freak and it worrys me that if im adding an extra 15 mins onto my cooling time, I may end up with a cloudy beer. Is this just not the case? Thanks for the input, any thoughts on the grain bill/...
