What I did for beer today

Dry hopped my "Kitchen Sink" IPA, my shameless attempt to clear out my frozen hop inventory. Dry hopped with a mix of Centennial, Chinook, Willamette and even a little Warrior. Cheers.

    Stupid Joke Thread!

My mother tells me I have to stop making breakfast puns. If I keep doing it, I'm toast. My brother keeps egging me on. He's such a ham.

Do You Have a Go-To Yeast Brand?

Good topic. I might be in the minority here but I've been a White Labs guy for many years. Just great, consistent results for me. Most used: wlp001 Cal Ale, wlp002 English Ale, wlp007 Dry English Ale, and for lagers wlp830 German lager and wlp833 Bock. I've tried many other White Labs...

    Premature Dry Hop

I'd let it ride. They're wet now, no point fishing them out IMO. You might end up with a little less aroma than if they went in after fermentation, but it'll still be good. RDWHAHB. 😁 Cheers.

    Stupid Joke Thread!

I bought a sweater that was picking up way too much static electricity ... so I returned it. They gave me a replacement, free of charge.

Hops and how long they last

Honestly, with a good vacuum seal in the freezer, I wouldn't limit them to 1 year. I think you could get several years out of them if stored well. If you're using them for late addition or dry hopping, you might not get as fresh a bouquet out of them after a few years, but for bittering or...

What I did for beer today

Brew day today! "Kitchen Sink" IPA ... an attempt to clean out my freezer of hops and my fridge of yeast. This one has 6 types of hops (breaking my own "rule of 3"), and a blend of Chico and English yeasts. 12 hours post-pitch and we're rockin' . We'll see how it turns out. Cheers.

Question regarding hops and cooling wort

Most of the time I'm brewing hoppy beers so I just leave the hop bag(s) in the kettle until the wort is cool. Maximize the flavor extraction, I figure. But I don't squeeze them like @Miraculix does ... seems too messy to me. 😁 Rock on.

What I did for beer today

Yeast starter night! "Kitchen Sink" IPA being brewed this weekend ... an every-so-often Frankenstein beer to clean out my on-hand inventory. Using a blend of Chico and English ESB yeasts ... just because. Cheers.

    Stupid Joke Thread!

When my grandma turned 65, she started walking 10 miles a day. Now she's 82 ... and we have no idea where she is.

    R.I.P. @Bracconiere

Funny that a few of you mentioned grammar; when I read his posts, it was not uncommon for me to get confused, unable to figure out what he exactly he was trying to say. I'd shrug and move on. I didn't interact with him directly, and I did not know him, but I will miss his presence; he was...

    First time using BRY-97

Has anyone used second or third (or more) generations of BRY-97? I'm been a liquid yeast guy for years and I've heard some dry yeast users say that the results improve in gen 2 and beyond. Any experience with this? Thanks.

What I did for beer today

Bottled my Surly Furious clone - Jeffurious - this afternoon during happy hour. Continued to use the techniques I picked up from members of this site the last few years: direct connect of the bottling wand to my Fermonster's spigot; fill bottles to within ~3/4" of the top of the bottle...
