    putting ice in wort

    I have been brewing a few batches and always used ice to cool down my wort since I don't have a chiller. I buy 1 gallon water, freeze it, cut the bottle open and put it on the bucket. Is this ok or it can cause problems? thanks

    I want to try this recepe this weekend. If I do it with a partial boil 3 Gallons does it change the amount of hops I use? The batch size will be 5G. Do I keep the same hop schedule and amount as the original recipe? thanks Ernie

    1 out of 2 is flat !

    The problem was the operator ! Me. Capped 5 batches since then and all came out right. on that faulty batch I used a plastic plank to lift under the bottles that made them crooked when I capped.. so the capped where crooked too on top of the bottles. Thanks for all the help, I'm back...

    thanks for the info. That's what I tought, it's so commonly used there must have been some info on it. They were talking about the sulfuric acid used in these products that were bad for you. I like to collect as much information as possible and keep on learning... still a lot to learn ...

    I decided to sacrifice a beer... and break a bottle to see. it looks like white points in it... like I said.. it`s everywhere until the bottle curves at the top. it`s drying now so I will attempt to take a picture of it. thanks to everyone. Broke my heart to poor a beer in the sink

    what about the other 45 beers that are full do I dump them or drink them ? In the case it's mold. How did it get there? is it from the beer?

    it's like little dots.. all over each other... size of the needle point. it does brush off mold ? do I dump the batch ?

    all bottles were stuff free they well rinsed every time I used them and dried upside down.. I do the same watch against the sun to make sure it's all good. I rinse with hot water after drinking the beer and dry them upside down then before filling it's sanitiser. Never had any problems before...

    beer tastes fine. It's an extract recipe with some steeping. I checked all the full bottles seems to have it.. it starts at the bottom and goes all the way up to where the bottle curves.. then nothing in the neck or top of the bottle.. What now ?
