New post a picture of your pint

I made a collaboration beer with a buddy of mine who roasts coffee. This is a brown ale, and my oh my, it is tasty!

    What are you drinking now?

I’m in St. Louis for work for a couple of days. Narrow Gauge is terrific!

What I did for beer today

Took a gravity reading of my brown ale. 1.014. Smells biscuity, caramel, cocoa and graham cracker. Yum.

What I did for beer today

Had a spontaneous brew day yesterday evening . Brewed up a brown ale, but missed my OG by about 10 points. I think I was shorted on grains from the company I ordered from. Oh well. 1.045 OG it is. I will say, however, Opal 22 smells soooo good.

    First BIAB Attempt

Yeah, I already ordered all my grains single crushed from ABS. They do have a double crush option, so I’ll keep it in mind. For sparging, I think I’ll just heat a gallon of water like I usually do and pour over the grain bag in a plastic bucket.

    First BIAB Attempt

No, not boiling the bag lol. I probably typed that out wrong. I’ve heard a lot of people do a double crush for their grains. Might try that if I get poor efficiency.

    First BIAB Attempt

So, my Anvil Foundry has crapped the bed. All it needs is a screen replacement ($35) but I see this as the perfect opportunity to try BIAB. If it goes smoothly, I might just sell the foundry. I bought the Anvil 5.5 Kettle and plan to continue doing 2.5-3 gallon batches. This first attempt with...

    RIP Anvil Foundry

Tried brewing today, but my Anvil Foundry **** the bed. The screen is blue, but no numbers are showing. It seems as if it has some water damage. No idea how. Luckily, Anvil has a replacement screen for $32. Has this happened to anyone else?

5 gallon Cornelius keg filled to 4 and 5 gals

I bought one of these for my fermentation keg set up. The other floating dip tube I had always had a problem of not staying under the liquid line. This one is perfect. The filter not only filters out hops/trub, but also helps weigh the tube down. Love it.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing an IPA this weekend. 90% Golden Promise, 5% Caravienne, 5% wheat A ton of Strata, mostly in the whirlpool. A little Strata and Amarillo Cryo dry hop. BRY-97 yeast. Haven’t used this one before, but I’ve heard good things.

Some more HB Kolsch. I’m always very critical of my beer, but I’ll take a humble brag here and say this is ******* awesome!
