    Hop Shot after fermentation?

Thanks for the input. I think I'll give it a shot. (Pun intended) I estimate the IBUs to be about 20 and want to bump it up to maybe 40 so I figure about 2 ml should do it. I just got some Mosaic so I think I will try dry hopping it also.

    Hop Shot after fermentation?

I have a APA just finishing fermentation that tastes like it needs a tad more bitterness. I was thinking of making a small amount of wort, adding 1-2ml of Hop Shot, boiling for an hour and adding it to the beer to bump up the IBUs. Does this sound like it might work or just a waste of time?

    $35 Everything Cleaner

I used a 600 something GPH pump for mine and paid about the same as you at Harbor Freight. With the QDs connected to a keg it shoots about 4 ft. more than enough for a keg or carboy. I've only cleaned one keg but it was a keg hopped DIPA and it was nasty. A little PBW and 45 minutes later and it...

Hopback - any worthwhile alternatives to the Blichmann HopRocket?

How about showing us how you made it. Looks very interesting I've never seen anything like that before.

    Will collagen hydrolysate fine beer?

Let us know how it works. I hope you brew a lot, one pound is going last a long time. :)

    Confession Time

I have 2 flasks, a stir plate and almost always use dry yeast dumped directly into the fermenter. I also have 2 hydrometers, a refractometer and can't remember the last time I took an OG.

    Grain Mill Motor Not Working

Type "SA" is a split phase brushed motor and has no capacitor. The main use for them was in washing machines. The problem is probably the brushes but good luck finding replacements. That sucker is old, probably the 40's or 50's. GreenMonti is right 1/4 HP is pretty small for a mill anyway. Yes I...

Covering your starter while cooling it

Those flasks are made to be used over a direct flame. That's what they're used for in laboratories. Though I have heard of problems with some of the cheap Chinese/Indian ones breaking I have two I've done this with many times with no problem. Yes you add a couple drops of Fermcap to the wort...

PLEASE let the Northern Brewer buy-out be a hoax!

NB IS our LHBS. They drove almost all of the others out of business when they came to Milwaukee. The last couple of times I've gone there they had almost nothing I needed in stock so I'll probably get most everything from Farmhouse etc. but shipping on sacks of grain is too pricey.

Covering your starter while cooling it

I use one of these silicon foam stoppers. I boil the wort in the flask and the steam sterilizes it. Then it filters the critters out as the wort cools. Just make sure to use Fermcap or other anti-foam stuff to prevent boil overs. https://www.williamsbrewing.com/Search.aspx?k=foam+stopper

Adding GOP & Lemon Peel To Fermentation

Too much usage of the TLA (Three Letter Acronym) ;)

Adding GOP & Lemon Peel To Fermentation

Yeah sorry for getting off topic but it was just too easy. I've put both grains of paradise and lemon zest in at the end of the boil with good results. I know someone who makes a wicked concoction out of vodka and lemon peel so it definitely will extract the oils and flavor. Just make sure you...

    Keg height to taps

Great! I'm off to order a couple new Intertap faucets.:)

    Keg height to taps

Is there a problem with taps being lower than the top of the kegs? I've got a new potential beer fridge that I want to switch my taps to but unlike the old one this has a bottom freezer. The only way I could have the taps above the kegs would be to put them about 6 feet off the floor.

    pellet or whole leaf?

I've used both but lately mostly use pellets. Had a home made hop stopper that worked pretty good but I now use a hop spider and dry hop in a bag. That's the up side to cone hops, you can just toss them in the kettle. Down side, there are many varieties of hops that are only available in pellet...

    Cleaning, de-labeling bottles.

Cutting the loop off the end of the bottle brush and putting it in a cordless drill makes quick work of cleaning the insides.
