    Beersmith "My Equipment" questions

I have done this but figured the amount of water that did not get drained would be different than the amount of wort that did not get drained due to the grains being in the mash tun. I guess it would be the same though just was'nt sure.

    Better Bottles???

BB's are the way to go. They are light and you can carry them with one of those orange carboy handles. The only downside I have found is when racking via using carboy caps you can't use the BB as the vaccum vessle ( like siphoning from your kettle to BB ) i.e. you can't suck on the carboy cap to...

    Beersmith "My Equipment" questions

I recently installed Beersmith on my computer and have been playing around with a bit and have a couple questions. First, how accurate is all the data in the My Equipment section? How do I figure out my lautertun deadspace, lost to boil trub, and evaporation rate? If I boil 7 gallons of water...

Hopping with pellets and a SS tea sphere ?

someone has been watching to much Good Eats:D Really though I gave the ole 1 gallon paint strainer a try a couple days ago when racking from my secondary to bottling bucket and it worked awesome to filter all the dry hop junk. It was tough getting the Autosiphon down the neck of my carboy...

    Help, I'm overflowing!

4-5 inches is usually never enough headspace for a primary fermenter. If you are using a bucket as a primary sanitize a length of tubing and jam it in the hole where your airlock goes and the other end in a vessel containing water. If you are using a carboy as a primary fermenter you can either...

    Andrew Dice reality show?

Dice is funny but I think a rated PG cable show Dice would blow. He just would not be the same if every other word was not a four letter one.

Just bought one of them Foodsaver contraptions

I have one as well and they are awesome. I vacuum seal everything. I use it for my corn sugar and hops. I go to Costco and buy bulk meat and divide it up , seal it and freeze. I have a couple canisters that came with it and use those for all kinds of dry goods. I want to get the lid sealer for...

    Wort Chilling Question

If you did not circulate the cooled wort away from the chiller to get more hot wort around it you would be there twice as long.

    skipping the secondary

I know this is a debatable topic but I was wondering how many people here skip the secondary? I was going to do this on my next batch to see for myself the results of leaving my brew in the primary for 3-4 weeks. If you mark other in the poll please explain...Thanks

That happened to me a couple batches ago on my Porter. I just put scotch tape on it like you did. It swelled up like normal and now I am drinking a delicious Porter from that batch. No worries.
