Is Starsan good desinfectant? (spolier: no)

We supply these units in the $20K range, and they are intended for commercial use. Typically we provide them as part of a buy, own, operate (BOO) program, charging a fixed fee per month to include equipment, chemical, and service. It is an economical and efficient option for breweries. This...

Is Starsan good desinfectant? (spolier: no)

This is true. You need a qualified water professional, in the same way that you wouldn't try to wire up your own 240V 3phase power without being/consulting an electrician.

Is Starsan good desinfectant? (spolier: no)

The units that I work with produce ClO2 in a fast and efficient way on-demand. However, they are admittedly designed to produce at least 10g/hr; which, though small, is probably more effective if used on a pico/micro brew scale. The idea is that the unit is connected to the dedicated water...

Is Starsan good desinfectant? (spolier: no)

The only thing i know that you are aware of is what you have stated; "Get some sodium chlorite powder and mix with water". The ClO2 generators that I work with are NSF-61 certified. Hopefully tour internet queries has not lead you down the path of the pseudoscience of MMS. Neither the FDA or...

Is Starsan good desinfectant? (spolier: no)

Mixing sodium chlorite with water will not make chlorine dioxide - it typically requires an acid. Chlorine dioxide can not be safely transported so is typically generated on-site. For large scale use (more than 15 pounds per day - generally at drinking water plant scales - treating more than 1...

Is Starsan good desinfectant? (spolier: no)

I use a 3000ppm concentration of chlorine dioxide. It's lovely.

Doesn't anybody know about in-place steam disinfection? I wonder what the motivation of the OP is...as Weezy mentioned why no Cyrillic script?

    Growing hops FOR shade

Google the difference between "bine" and "vine" to discover why your 1st statement is not necessarily true. A bine doesn't need to 'grip,' its stem wraps around things for stability...

    An Embarrasment of Hops

It's 10:27PM AM, and I'm considering letting the butler knock off a little early on a Saturday.... All he's got to do is finish polishing the Bentley and grooming the peacocks. I am only paying him $2K a week since he only puts in very little effort. He has been working for me almost 37 years...

Low Cal (<125 kcal/12oz) Irish Red Ale

No fruity, no esters. I think I'll run with the original recipe, and if it turns out to be a disaster i will try a proven dark mild recipe. Thanks for your feedback.

Low Cal (<125 kcal/12oz) Irish Red Ale

Is this a case of Toe-Mah-Toe v. Toe-May-Toe? Or: Is the difference between a Light Irish (LI) and a Bitter (B) this: LI has a dry slightly roasted finish, whereas B should finish just dry (hence the roasted barley) LI has medium to low bitterness, whereas B is medium to highly...

To dry hop or not? That is the question.

So i did. I tasted a gravity reading prior to dry hop, and had a sip today (might still be a little green). It tastes like dirt. Literally. It tastes like drinking muddy water. Prior to dry hopping it had a crisp, clear, slightly citrussy flavor with a mild floral aroma and a balanced...

Beer on the moon - my next job!

i imagine that flocculation might be an issue at 1/6th gravity. However, vacuum distillation might be something that can be done very easily...

Low Cal (<125 kcal/12oz) Irish Red Ale

For reasons of my own (do these pants make my butt look fat?), I want to craft a beer that is relatively low in calories, but still drinkable. Please let me know if you think this little number will do the trick? Recipe Specifications -------------------------- Boil Size: 7.64 gal Post...

    Tap water cause weird fermentation?

Where do you live? Get a water report from the municipality. Most places are more than happy to share this information and already have it posted to their website. If you are on a well, then you will need to send your sample out to a lab, like ward labs. Water contains all sorts of minerals...

    Unsolicited water advice....

Unless you live where i live. Here is my water report: PH: 7.20 Calcium: 6.00 Magnesium: 1.00 Sodium: 3.00 Sulfate: 7.00 Chloride: 0.00 Bicarbonate: 19.00 You can't really get much closer to RO/Distilled than that. I think you can build up to anything with that as a starter.

To dry hop or not? That is the question.

I am still dialing in my AG process and recently made the ale listed below. Right now i am at a BH efficiency of about 67% (still have a ways to go, but heading in the right direction) while batch sparging. I just tasted my gravity reading which was at 1.011. I am going to let this sit on...

    Georgia Norcross/Peachtree Corners Homebrewers (GA)

It is with those activities in mind that we intend to form a larger group. We have a significant amount of experience, and our looking to expand. If there are no locals around besides us, that is fine too. I won't know unless I ask.
