How long in OxiClean to take labels off?

They only difference is that the "normal" Oxiclean is scented. I use the normal stuff and it doesn't seem to make any difference to me. I think the "free" i.e. free of scents is more about deep cleaning kegs, fermenters, etc.

Trillium Fort Point Pale Ale Clone

I'm going to brew up my clone version this weekend and see how close I get. I've had a bunch of bottles of Fort Point recently and can't wait to compare. You barely add a bittering charge. The stuff is like drinking orange juice.

    Removing labels from bottles....

I just fill the sink with a couple of tablespoons of OxiClean and hot water, leave the bottles in there for 5-10 minutes and usually they come off with very little resistance. The ones that tend to have nicer labels and better glue (like Trillium here) it can be a little bit of a chore, but...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing a Trillium Fort Point Ale clone and trying out some new equipment (Arbor Fab hop spider) and techniques (whirlpooling).

    HomeBrewSupply.com

I am also very pleased so far with my purchases from Home Brew Supply. I BIAB and I am trying to increase efficiency so after I had placed my latest grain bill order I asked if it would be a problem to double-crush. It was not a problem to them and the grains look great! Can't wait to brew...

    Brewery and Growlers

In Massachusetts you can only fill a growler from the brewery you bought the growler from. I'm sure in addition to restricting alcohol sales there might be a health rationale to it. You cannot bring an unbranded/"third party" growler.

    MoreBeer Torpedo Keg

I have two and they fit normal disconnects.

Do you use extra grain for a full volume mash?

My last brew session I hit about 60% efficiency. While my OG was abut 7 points lower than expected, my FG ended up being local to 10 points lower than expected so it worked out in the end. My plan this go-around is to increase my grain bill slightly and double-crush. The great guys at Home...

    Any Bostonians here?

If you are staying at the Parker House (the oldest continuously operated hotel in the country) Stoddards would be a good choice as its a really nice gastropub about a 5 min walk away. It used to be a cutlery store. They have a really nice beer list. Another recommendation in the area is the...

How many gallons of homebrew in 2016?

    Bottling Force Carb'd (Keg'd) Beer - Question

Right, then a Beer Gun or some beer filler should do the trick. I've never tried it myself, but would a twist-off growler cap still hold the carbonation? I have a Beer Gun and its pretty easy to use once I got the hang of it. I also saw some posts online where people just filled the bottles...

What are 10 American beers I should try buying in USA at a beer shop?

Right, you can create a list of the top 10 beers, but most likely you aren't going to be able to get any of them, except maybe Trillium, on a trip to Boston if you aren't willing to drive. It seems that most of the highest rated beers are just not available here (Pliny), hard to get to...

What are 10 American beers I should try buying in USA at a beer shop?

I wrote this in another thread, but in addition to Trillium, I would recommend stopping at Hopsters Alley, located in the new Boston Public Market (located just about the Haymarket MBTA station, 100 Hanover St.). They have a lot of beers from especially the New England region. They sometimes...

    Massachusetts Visiting Boston in July

That's pretty cool. What level did he reach? I've only been to that one once, but I would imagine that going on Fridays or days where they're releasing a sought-after beer would be a little tougher. But I think even then its doable. One place I forgot about that is relatively new is...

    Bottling Force Carb'd (Keg'd) Beer - Question

If you're just interested in filling growlers to bring over for immediate drinking or within a couple of days, you could just attach a growler filler to your faucet and fill it up that way. I assume you've already carb'd your beer for serving from the keg.

    Massachusetts Visiting Boston in July

One thing to look up if your kids like baseball is a tour of Fenway, which they do if the Red Sox aren't in town. Sometimes they even let people onto the warning track if the conditions are right. Its a nice way to see the park without the hassle of a game. Of course if you have tickets to a...

    Crystal lovibond ratio conversion

Similar question: I'm developing a recipe that has 4 ounces Crystal 15. Other than just substituting C 20 and getting close, can I just get 2 ounces each of C 10 and C 20?

Draft brewer single keg system assembly.

The easy rule of thumb I was told is that if the connections are going to be metal-on-metal use one of those washers.

    Yeast - Hops interaction experiment

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but did you ever post your results? I'm asking because I'm trying to build a Trillium pale ale/IPA clone and I've read they advocate for yeast/hops interaction for the dry hop (I'm thinking of dry hopping 3-4 days after pitching) and when I googled the topic...

    Specific Gravity questions

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Do you know what kind of yeast it is? I looked up the Brewer's Best IPA kit ingredients online and it only says "1 sachet yeast." Its probably a different type of yeast from your Kolsch kit and as I'm sure its obvious, different yeast react differently...
