Massachusetts FS: SS Brewtech Brew Bucket

Hi - For sale is the 7 gallon SS Brew Bucket. Its in great shape and nothing's wrong with it; I just find that it is redundant with my other buckets. It has the lid and if you want, I have another lid designed for use with the Brewjacket (i.e. it has a drilled hole in the middle to fit the...

    MoreBeer.com - Always garbage shipping?

More Beer might be the only online retailer I’ve regularly dealt with (in any capacity not just home brewing ) that has delivered in advance of the estimated delivery window. It’s happened more than a few times as well. The only time I remember having a delivery issue was when the northeast...

Opinions on the new Sabro hop

I had an IPA from Trillium that used Sabro and it was really, really coconut-y. The guy even told me about how coconut-y it was so and I still bought it. I don't like coconut.

    Star San in spray bottle

I just mixed Starsan and our regular tap water and haven't had any issues. My understanding is to pitch it once it gets cloudy, but I've had a spray bottle at the ready for years now and haven't seen any cloudiness or had any problems with sanitization.

    Massachusetts FS: Blichmann Quickcarb

Hi everyone - I have a used Blichmann Quickcarb up for sale. I purchased it from another HBT member here last year and I've never used it. I guess I got a little ambitious but haven't had the need to utilize it. It comes with everything seen above, including the case. I bought it for...

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

Yeah, on my first HT attempt, it never even began fermenting so I had to pitch some harvested Conan a couple of days in. This time its been great, fermentation-wise. Its gone from about 1.070ish to 1.017 in the past 4 days.

Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

I've done the Farmhouse Brewing Supply kit (based off of the recipe on the 1st page) three times. The first one I felt like was about 85% of the way there. The second one did not go so well, maybe because of an issue I've been having. I'm currently fermenting the third one and can't wait to...

    Gas Stove Top

Its not about the fuel source, its about the burner. An indoor stove (gas/propane) has normally burns at about 7,000-12,000 BTU. Turkey fryers/outside burners can range from around 35,000 to 220,000. So obviously an indoor kitchen is not prepared for that sort of burning power/danger.

    BRY97 lag time

This is of course the smallest of sample sizes, but the one time I used BRY-97 it had a much longer lag time than other similarly-situated yeasts I had used (to that point only US05 and US04). But when it took off, it was a monster! The only batch to date that blew off the lid on my bucket...

    Bag vs Basket

I got a custom-made basket from Utah Biodiesel for my cooler and got a press plate to press out all the extra liquid. It probably doesn't help much if you BIAB (since I BIACooler, which allows me to drain the cooler and then press all the liquid out), but you can sort-of "squeeze" like a bag.

Calling all IPA lovers...what are your favorite 3?

I’m all in on NEIPAs considering I live in NE. But my reliable top three: 1. Heady Topper 2. Treehouse Julius 3. Maine Beer Co. Dinner

Mashing with biab using sous vide versus mashing with a bag in a cooler

Back when I used to BIAB (I now BIAC - cooler), my temps would drop down to the 120s by the end of a mash. I still got a good conversion and excellent results!

Kettle size for 5 gallon BIAB

I have a 10g kettle. I used to BIAB; now I BIAC (cooler). But a couple of times I was at the very top of the kettle when mashing. It made for some very delicate stirring!

How many gallons brewed in 2019!

5.5 gallons of a "back to basics" IPA over the weekend = 3394.5

BIAB Newbie - water / grain ratio questions :)

Yeah just like everyone else I don’t concern myself with ratios. I “start” with my anticipated volume I want in the fermenter and work backward. And honestly I just guesstimate since I’m not a stickler for precision. The only two things I need to know is my boil-off rate and the grain...
