    eating deposit to keep keg??

yeah, thats the debate. It isn't illegal. Is it morally wrong? I figure that charge you the deposit in the amount equal to the amount it would cost them to get a new one? They don't do it at a loss - they reserve the amount to make them whole if you don't bring it back. You aren't stealing it -...

    eating deposit to keep keg??

So, these local beer store charges a 30 deposit for 1/6 kegs filled with sam adams. I'm buying a couple of kegs for homebrew. But $30 is way less than I can get a reconditioned keg delivered here for. sooooooooo, is it ok to "forget" to timely return it, eat the $30 charge, and use it at home...

    good bench capper?

I have one of the generic hand held wing cappers to cap my bottles. I hate the thing, I always feel like I'm going to pop the top right off the bottles. I looked online at the bench cappers, but many of the reviews of many of them are iffy. Anyone have a good one that doesn't cost a fortune that...

    kegerator alterations

one more quick question. I wanted to get a dual regulator, so that I could have two different pressures foe the two different kegs. I found what looks like a good one...

    kegerator alterations

I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I can't find an answer. I've read and read and read, and every time I think I have it locked down, I read something else which makes me more confused. I just ordered my first kegerator...

    Refractometer question x2

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/not-panic-just-trying-understand-519133/index2.html I had similar questions about using the refractometer, got some good advice (above) and have been able to take pretty accurate post fermentation refractometer readings

    5 gallon poland spring bottles?

Thanks! I think I'm going to try one with a batch of apfelvine https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f25/man-i-love-apfelwein-14860/index1271.html#post6784313

    5 gallon poland spring bottles?

Any reason you couldn't use the 5 gallon water bottles we get at the office for fermentation (secondary?). they are good quality plastic, and a lot lighter and easier to carry than a glass carboy, have a handle built in, won't kill you if it breaks, and readily obtainable?

BrewNanny - What do you think?

I find it fascinating that the "inventor" has no background in engineering, rather he has a background in digital photography and marketing. And all we have seen are some crisp digital photos, and marketing. Has anyone seen a video of this thing actual working? Or seen or heard of or even read a...

    Dishwasher sanitize

I'm glad this came up - my plan was to start putting them in dishwasher, and then a quick soak in Starsan. Do you think I can do that a couple of days in advance of bottling? or should I do it all the same day?

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I guess my only concern was the the seal on the Mr. Beer is a little odd, and was wondering if not having a true seal there would spoil the applejuice or something? Or, if having it in relatively cheap plastic for so long would somehow oxidate / turn the applejuice?

Need a keg for a party 25.04.2015 is this realistic? never keged before.

In America, the drinking age is 21, and it is illegal to provide alcohol to people under 21. Dumb rule, but pretty strictly enforced. Sooooo, someone asking the quickest was to get a keg to throw beer at a bunch of 18 year old girls is a bad idea. or a great idea. I don't know. I go back and...

    My First Brew... Need Help

I will not comment on beer being illegal, and will assume this is just a hypothetical question. You could hypothetically make something like this: the only ingredients are apple juice, sugar, and yeast: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f25/man-i-love-apfelwein-14860/ nothing which I would hope...
