    Should I use RO water?

The thing that concerns me the most is the accuracy of water reports as well as the ever changing water that comes from tap. It seems every time I look at the updated water report it's different than what it was before. So personally I would just prefer to start with a clean slate knowing what's...

    Should I use RO water?

I've been using a counter top water distiller for my brewing water. I first start out with tap water running through a PUR filter just to keep the cleaning maintanence easy then after it gets distilled it runs through another charcoal filter that is mounted on the spout of the water distiller...

    Novalager Yeast.

I've been fermenting at 66f then kegging after day 5. 1.051 to1.011. I cold crash for a few days. Having excellent results. Perfect for my kolsch recipe. No sulphur but have noticed some fruity esters. DMF

DigiBoil for $140 at Williams Brewing

I have 2 of them and one does seem to get hotter than the other. The newer one purchased recently ($139) seems to barely come to a boil. Both stop at 204f but the older one comes to a pretty good rolling boil and its what I use as my main kettle. I've made some really good beers with it too...

    Regulator problem?

This has happened to me before. What I did was removed the keg that wasn't pouring from the keezer and disconnected both the gas and liquid lines then vented out all the gas. I removed the liquid ball lock post from the keg and cleaned it. I then ran a brush through the stem like a plumbers...

I thought there was something a little off on that. Thanks for the correction. DMF

    Taprite o-ring 440-17r

Couple bucks for postage? Uh no. $12.55 is too much in my opinion. DMF

    SoCo Homebrew okay?

Does anybody know what's up with SoCo Homebrew? There is a notice that they are temporarily closed due to unforeseen circumstances. I hope they're alright. It's one of my favorite online stores and have always been really happy with everything from them. DMF.

    BrewCipher 7 Up for Download

I'm running Excel Words 2007 and I downloaded the xls version. When I click on a box to try to enter my grain type a message comes up saying it is read only and is protected. When I go to the review tab and click on Unprotect Sheet a box pops up and demands a password. DMF

    BrewCipher 7 Up for Download

When I try and use this spredsheet it prompts me for a password when I go to the water tab and try to enter something. It says to go the review tab and click on unprotect sheet. When I do it prompts me for a password. Any advice here? Thanks, DMF

    Novalager Yeast.

After 14 days from grain to glass the beer is excellent. It poured pretty clear using a float tube and was praised by all who sampled it last night. It tasted very clean and crisp. I think given a few more days to a week, it is every bit if not better than Lutra Kveik for a lager type beer...

is lallemand diamond lager the same as fermentis 34/70

I believe Lallemand is just plain better comparing similarities to all their yeast. I think Fermentis especially in the last few years has gone downhill and I will be fading out using Fermentis completely. Some of the undesirable odd flavors I've gotten from using various Fermentis dry yeast...

    Novalager Yeast.

After about 8 days from grain to glass the beer was quite drinkable but I'm sure it will be much better with some age. Still not sure if Novalager will be replacing my go-to Lutra Kveik yeast yet. Just have to wait and see. DMF

    Novalager Yeast.

I just used this yeast on a kolsch recipe since it was next on my list. Started with an OG of 1.050 and after 7 days 1.012. Fermented at 64f. Took a slight taste out of a transfer tube after a closed transfer into a corny keg. It seemed to taste alright but have never been too fond of the taste...

Anvil bucket fermenter lid not sealing?

On my 7.5 bucket I've taken my seal out a few times to clean and it wasn't easy to get back in to fit snug. I don't even bother taking it out anymore. When cleaning I wipe it down with a cloth soaked in PBW then rinse well. Before use I take a soggy wash cloth soaked in Star San and slop it...

    Novalager Yeast.

I'm going to give this yeast a try on a Munich Helles. I've been using Lutra Kveik Yeast at 68f on pseudo lagers and been having pretty good results, 7 days grain to glass out of a corny keg. I'm hoping this yeast will be a step up from kveik on a speedy made beer. Hoping to hear some more...

How old is your Star San?

I seriously doubt it's the Star San unless it was exposed to some severe heat or other kind of damage. I would buy a small bottle of Star San as suggested and try that. I've used 5 to 6 year old Star San without any problems. DMF

    Munich DME

Adventures in Homebrewing has Munich DME on sale if you care to deal with the NB clan. I've used it before they sold out to NB. It made a really good Vienna Lager. DMF
