    Good deal on keg?

I have a chance to buy the keg in the photo for $20. I have no immediate need for it, but figure i can store it until needed. Does this seem like a good price for a keg?

Does a hobby that generate tangible goods for self-consumption a harm to the economy?

Perhaps we in Quebec will be required to purchase a permit from the SAQ to be allowed to homebrew. In reality, I don't see this happening, but you never know wht stupid things governments will do.

Does a hobby that generate tangible goods for self-consumption a harm to the economy?

I wouldn't worry about depriving the government of tax revenue for two reasons. First is that knowing the governments we tend to have in this province, they would probably waste the money anyway, and second being that I am sure they will find a way to tax homebrew as well in the not too...

what do you do the the low OG wart left over?

Boil it with some hops and ferment it. Might be crap, but might be a nice session beer.

    Magic Hat brewery tour

Was passing through Vermont with the family today, when my wife suggested we stop by the Magic Hat brewery for a tour. It was a fun tour that even the kids enjoyed, with some nice samples at the end. If you are passing through the Burlington area, it is worth checking out.

Open the lid to your bucket and where do you put it??

I usually just draw my samples through the airlock hole. Pop airlock out with left hand and don't put it down, draw sample with thief in right hand, empty thief into hydrometer flask sitting on the still in place bucket lid, replace airlock. Total time, about 30 seconds.

    Over attenuation

My last few batches of beer have attenuated more than expected, mostly finishing in the 1.002 - 1.004 range when the calculator from hopville has estimated the Fg to be in the 1.010 to 1.012 range. My last brew finished at 1.001, and for the first time I have noticed a slight sour taste to the...

    beer ferMented in 2 days?

Well, let me beat Revvy to it and say that airlock activity is no indication of fermentation, only your hydrometer can tell you if your beer is done. That being said, I have had numerous brews that have finished the bulk of the fermentation in a couple of days. They still needed more time to...

    FWH Poll

Can i do FWH if I brew with extract? I do full boils, and I was thinking that i could get my water up to temp (160 - 170df) add my extract, then add hops and steep for 20 min. Boil as normal. Will this work?

    What is your Brewing Pet-Peeve?

Not quite brewing related, but forum related.. I hate it when people equate post count with brewing experience.

    priming

You boil your sugar to sanitize it. I would alsoimagine that boiling, which will dissolve your sugar, will help it to mix more evenly with the beer in your bottling bucket.

    Cleaning an ancient beer crate

If it is to be given as an antique, I would avoid cleaning it at all. What normal people call grime, antique lovers call "patina".

    Cleaning an ancient beer crate

Mild soap and water, though to give a more helpful answer, a pic and description of the dirt would be helpful.

    IC design question

I just got a good deal on 42 feet of 3/8od copper tubing so I have decided it is time to finally build an immersion chiller. Before I turn this into a chiller, I was wondering about the importance of chiller coil diameter. I was planning to make a 12" diameter coil, which would keep the entire...
