    Sanitising Bottles

After years of using bleach to sanitise my brew equipment, i have finally made the switch to StarSan (wish I had done this years ago). My question relates to sanitising bottles. With bleach, I would sanitise bottles while my beer was in the fermenter, giving them a 1 hour soak in bleach and...

    Centennial, Amarillo Play well together?

Thanks guys, I kind of figured it would be good, but it is nice to have other opinions. As for the dark LME, it is not normally something I use anymore, but I had some in the freezer that I wanted to use up.

    Centennial, Amarillo Play well together?

Hi All, I'm in the process of brewing a freezer clearing batch, using up ingredients before they are past their prime. My recipe up to this point is: 4.4lb dark LME 2.2lb light LME 1lb crystal 15 .75oz centennial (11%) 60 min 1oz centennial 15min 1oz centennial 0min My...

Just found out we don't own a scale

Probably too late for you this time, but in an emergency you can dissolve the full 1kg in a litre of water. 300ml of this solution would be almost exactly 300g.

You know you're a home brewer when?

Not only do you sniff your airlocks, but you can actually convince other people to get down on the floor and sniff them too.

    F.G. 10 points low, WTF?

The off flavour is in the background,I can't really describe it, i want to say sour, but that isn't quite it. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, but there are no overly boozy flavours there.

    F.G. 10 points low, WTF?

I have checked my hydrometers, both read 1.000 in distilled water. I have also calibrated my thermometer, so I think I can rule out measurement error. I am brewing with LME and am doing full wort boils. I chill with an immersion chiller and pitch rehydrated US-05 when cool and in primary. My...

    F.G. 10 points low, WTF?

I have had the same problem on my last two batches of beer and I need some help and advice. As the title says, both of my last two batches have finished 10 points lower than calculated ( 1.003 rather than the 1.012 or 1.014 that they should have been). After the first batch, I figured it was...

Immersion Chiller ( 3 intermeshed Ring design)

I think that if you are drunk enough and you squint enough, it kinda looks like a shamrock, so I guess you could call it a shamrock chiller, which would probably make it great for chilling that next batch of Guinness

Choosing the Right Propane burner for outdoor all-grain

I've used that exact burner and I had no trouble getting 24l of water to a boil. Starting from 20c, it only took about 15 minutes to come to a boil. Check out this thread for some Canadian online retailers https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/best-place-supplies-canada-207574/
