    Temperature Calibration/Validation of Equipment

I'm sure there are some who will disagree, this is how I look at this. Accuracy is not as important as consistency. Provided your measuring instruments aren't way off, it doesn't matter as long as you always use the same tools every time and use them the same way every time. I know my...

How to calibrate gallons of volume or several lbs weight

As long as your measurements are consistent, there really is no need for super precise calibration. Your scale /jug may off by a few percent, but as long as they are off by the same amount every time it really doesn't matter. Just make sure to use the same measuring tools every time and you...

    Session IPA feedback

I have other hops to use for bittering, but I am trying to use up some Galaxy that has been open for a while. I may try moving the late addition hops to flameout, sounds like a good idea.

    Session IPA feedback

I have some grain and hops that I would like to use up before they go stale, so to use them up I came up with this recipe for a session IPA. I have only limited experience with galaxy hops and have never brewed with citra before, so feedback on the hopping would be greatly appreciated. Here is...

Full boil: Is this a good propane burner / pot?

The only problem you may have with that setup is that the burner is a turkey fryer, which means it has a timer on the gas line that will shut off the gas every 20 minutes or so (although I have heard that this can be defeated). For about $10 more, you can get this pot and burner at Reno Depot...

Full Propane Tank in the Summer (garage)

Propane tanks have a pressure relief valve. If they get too hot and the pressure goes up, they will vent excess pressure and remain safe. This is why you must keep tanks upright, the valve won't work if horizontal, and why you shouldn't store them indoors, you don't want to be breathing in...

Dumping 5L of concentrated wort into 18L of cold water?

A propane burner is probably necessary, unless you can bring 20 or so litres to a boil on your stove. I use one like this from Reno Depot http://www.renodepot.com/en/cooker-propane-gas-outdoor-cooking-appliance-1718031 not too expensive and works well. As for the wort chiller, I would...

Dumping 5L of concentrated wort into 18L of cold water?

By concentrated wort, I assume you are talking kits? If you are boiling the concentrated wort, then before you start playing with your water you should try doing full wort boils. 23L is more of a pain to boil , but it will almost certainly make a noticeable difference in the quality of your beer.

Crushing grains, what do u use

+1. OBKrusher works great for me. Went from 65% efficiency with the crush from my LHBS to 90% with this mill.

Your time to get desired temperature

Judging from you photo, it looks to me that your burner is more like 8" from the bottom of your keg (figuring that your burner is about 8 1/2 to 8 3/4" diameter and the distance between burner and keg seems to be about the same as the width of the burner ). Get it closer and that should help...

    Maple sap

Has anybody ever tried boiling maple sap down to an OG of about 1.050 and fermenting it? I am thinking of trying this if I get a chance and would love to know if anybody has any experience with this.

    Williams Brewing Grain Mill

I have been using this mill http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/OBKrusher_Grain_Mill_with_7_lb_hopper_p/grain-mill-obkrusher.htm which I believe is the same mill since last year. I have to say that I have had virtually no problems with it, and the rollers are easy to adjust. Hand cranking is a...
