Just a note as I didnt see anyone address this but your "mead" that you are comparing too isnt a fermented beverage as you are doing. Just a quick google and it looks like that is just a blended drink consisting of " honey, fermented grape juice, neutral spirits and locally sourced water".

Ive got two kegs of the Gruit conditioning right now(same process/recipe with a different yeast), planning on chilling and tasting in a couple weeks and bottling. No preference on the fruit either @RPh_Guy, really excited to try some of your beer!

Forgot that there should already be about 1 vol of CO2 in your beer so it really should only be about half that weight.

I dont know if its this simple but assuming 2.1 volumes of co2 (40°F @ 8 psi) that works out to 2.6 ozs according to this calculator. Assuming the internet is always right of course ;) https://www.aqua-calc.com/calculate/volume-to-weight

Ive got a similar unit about twice as wide and as day_trippr said everything of importance is split between the top unit and beneath where the compressor resides. My refrigerant lines are ran in the sidewall and are accessible by a small panel so easy to see where not do drill. Looking forward...

I like that idea. Still trying to figure out where to place it as well. My intial idea was to just use it as a cooler and run taps through a wall but my bar is built on an exterior wall so it doesnt share any wall space with another room. With your idea I could almost turn it into a "cabinet"...

I’ve always tried to figure out the difference. When I first go the kegerator I wanted to convert it to a triple tap but could ever find my style perlick. Just the etched kind.
