Not a n00b, but need some help!

I was just thinking maybe I was using too much oxygen. I use a refrac but out of suspicion I used my hydro today and got the same values. I there anything I can do now to fix it? Add yeast? One of them is carbed!

Not a n00b, but need some help!

So I feel stupid being an avid brewer with lots of batches and knowledge under my belt but please help me figure out what's going on here. I have made a couple batches recently that havn't finished. Today I sampled the carb level on a Mexican ale and it tasted horrible! I checked the gravity...

    Ready to bottle have questions

So I have a Christmas ale that we made in august and let age. It's basically a 1.068ish spiced amber. It was in prim for 14 days then we racked to keg where it has been in secondary since (no pressure added) I've now decided it's time to get it ready. My plan is to bottle about half (with carb...

    New stirplate Qs

So when somerians and Egyptians used mugwort and such to bitter and flavor their beers did they not skunk? Once again just curious about the whole thing I find the history of our labors very intriguing! I like the blue light too just wanted to make sure it wasn't harmful

    New stirplate Qs

Just out of curiosity what would hops matter? Are hops the reason beer oxidizes?

    New stirplate Qs

So I finished my stirplate and finally got my flask and stirbar in the mail. Unfortunately when I bought my fan all they had was on with blue LEDs. My question is will these LEDs hurt anything in my yeast starters? Should i try to unhook em or let em be? Also what speed should my unit be...

So I'm happy to report... This beer just scored a 34! In the FOAM cup 2011. I was hopping for anything around 30 and this was it. My best finisher! (bottling off kegs ruined my others..lots of notes on oxidation :( )

    Sprinkler valve as elec controll

Is there a cheap alternative. All I've seen is electronically controlled solenoid ball valves at a whopping 165$ a piece. I think that's a little or a h*ll of a lot out of my price range.

    oxyclean and starsan react?

But defiantly do not mix it with bleach of any kind!!!

    Sprinkler valve as elec controll

This may be a dumb question but in the sense of automation, could a sprinkler valve for an irrigation system be used as a valve in an automated system. For example controlling a pump and three valves electronically by a program to complete a brewing process. I'm thinking like the rainbird...

    oxyclean and starsan react?

FWIW and keep in mind I am not chemist* Starsan is an acid based disinfectant. Thats how it works. microbes can't live in the acidic environment it creates. Oxyclean is a bleach. Not chlorinated like clorox but still a bleach. Therefore it is an alkaline product. Allalines are in most...
