    Just got an O2 tank...

I think so. The receipt for the tank says 5-lb high pressure cylinder. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should get as far as connections?

    Just got an O2 tank...

See photo. I am not sure what kind of thread it is, but I do not know these cylinders either.

    Just got an O2 tank...

and the NPT connection to my CO2 Regulator isn't the same. I have been using the special reverse theaded regulator with my Home Depot O2 tanks, but this looks like a standard NPT thread, but doesn't work. Is there a special O2 tank I need to get, or do I need to get a different regulator?

    Used kegs v new kegs

Back to the O-Rings on the posts. I bought about 100 of the reddish o-rings just for my Gas, and 100 black for my liquid. I never accidentally cross up my connections to the posts any more.

    High OG

I am using tap water, but in the Seattle market so it is usually consistent between seasons. That said, I will test the pH and see where it is currently vs my last batch, which I did measure. This was a 15 Gallon batch... 17.5 Gals into Boil Kettle, about 16 Gals into the Fermenter, and I am...

    High OG

This is ironic, what with a post from yesterday referencing Low OG. I did a 15 gallon batch yesterday on my Spike system. It had 32.5 lbs of 2-Row, 5 pounds of Munich, and about five pounds of other grains such as Crystal 80, 20, etc. Beer Smith says my expected OG (at 72% Eff) SHB 1.068, and...

Spike (EBS) 50 Amp control panel Displays LLLL

Awesome Grant. Sounds like your panel had a virus... (OK, I promised myself I wouldn't go there, but it was just too easy...)

Spike (EBS) 50 Amp control panel Displays LLLL

Grant, I had the exact same issue. Check out this post and some of the related ones: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/spike-complete-system.599487/page-4#post-8473092 Ultimately, I found the problem to be the wire from the controller to the XLR. (See Pic 1+2) NEVER WANTING TO WORK...

    Spike Complete System

Help, I'm in the middle of a brew and power went out to both elements. The panel works fine, PID's work fine, pump works fine, but the heating elements won't fire. (50A Panel) Any quick ideas?

    Spike Complete System

While it looks like you have the leak problems mostly fixed, a common problem is where the coils in the HLT attach to it with the Push To Connect fittings. If it isn't in tight, it WILL leak. I have learned that (twice) as the HLT starts to fill up and the MT starts to drain. Now, I always...

    Presurizing kegs in cold storage

I just got a half barrel Unitank, and will be burst carbonating to 10-12 PSI in that, then pressure transferring beer into 5-gal Corny’s. I will be using a 7 cf chest freezer to keep the beer refrigerated until needed. I expect the kegs to stay stored for 15-30 days. The freezer will only...

    Spike Complete System

That's exactly what I did last time. Beersmith said to sparge with 8.25 gallons of water, so I took the volume of my HLT to 20 gallons because then I knew to reduce it to 11.75 gals for the sparge. My only problem was that I did not calculate for grain absorption, hose loss, etc, so the 8.25...

    Spike Complete System

I was having the same problem, but not as bad, and figured it out my last session. When I was fly sparging, I was keeping about a half inch of water on top of the grain bed, and slowly pumped the mash/wort into the boill kettle. Problem is, I did not measure my sparge water, but kept slowly...

    Spike Complete System

I got the silicon mat as protection for the table, not heat protection. With my 20 gallon system it seems the pots scratched the table everytime I moved them. If you do get them, get the large ones from SS Brewtech, vs the cheap pizza mats on Amazon. For about five bucks more, they are well...

    Idaho 7

I just did a Zombie Dust, which is very heavy to the Citra Hop. It has always been a neighborhood favorite, and this one I replaced half the citra with Idaho 7. It will be kegged tomorrow, and I am interested to see how the votes come in.

    Spike System (20 gal) Review

It is a simple condenser that essentially eliminates all steam from escaping the boil kettle. There is an extensive thread on it, and I am not going to go into details here. This accessory has allowed me to brew in my garage with all the doors shut and no ventilation for the steam, with no DMS...

    Spike System (20 gal) Review

I got my 20 Gallon Spike system in December, and finally had it all assembled in January. I got the full system with the 50A panel but excluded the table and chiller. I am going to use Rob2010's (the OP) same outline for my comments here. I have now had five batches with it. Quality of parts...
