    Anvil all in one

The inconsistency still happening, although this time for the better. I was aiming to make and 1.049 OG pale ale (calculated at 65% BH), actually OG was 1.058......so 80% BH efficiency. I'll take the win. I have never gotten that high before, not even with the old batch sparge setup. The...

    Keg Carbination confusion!

May seem too obvious but, it the gas turned on going to the keg? I have forgotten to do this once or twice. Are you getting and "hissing" from the pressure valve when releasing?

Iron flavor in stouts after carbonation?

Could it be over carbonated? It might be carbonic bite you are tasting.

Thank you all for the tips

    Counterflow Chiller question

I have had a kegland counterflow chiller for almost 2 years but have never used it, I have been using a Duda Diesel 30 plate for the last 5 or 6 years now. I have finally bought fittings for it and am going to try it it on my next batch. I am familiar with using and cleaning it, but my...

I have tried the lifting of the mash pipe too. No change.

    S04 yeast issue

Bad pack of yeast maybe? I'm at a loss on this one.

    S04 yeast issue

Recipes seems fine. Do you use Starsan to sanitize with? Could there have been any residual sanitizer or cleaning in the fermenter that may have gotten missed?

    S04 yeast issue

S-04 is usually pretty quick. I fermented with it a bunch of times, even on the hotter side, but haven't experienced what you are describing. Can you share your grain bill?

    S04 yeast issue

How long did it sit in the fermenter before you transferred it to the keg?

    Anvil all in one

I've tried everything you could have possibly read. Mash out, Sparging, No-Sparge, tighter mill gap, long mash times, tap water, distilled & RO with salt additions, etc. Nothing has helped. It's really no big deal in the long run. I based all my recipes on 60%, if I get higher I consider it...

    Anvil all in one

My only issue with it is the lower efficiency and/or inconsistent efficiency I get with it. I get between 60% and 72% usually, for me it just depends on the day.

    Northern Brewer closed?

I just looked into Ritebrew, the shipping was more than my grain bill. I will stick with MoreBeer.

    'Hangover' pill?

I'll stick to my formula. 1. Breakfast sandwich (the greasier the better - Bacon, Sausage, or Taylor Ham/Pork Roll - or all 3) Egg, and cheese. Salt, Pepper, Ketchup, Hot Sauce 2. Coca-Cola (OG regular 20oz.) 3. 2 Advil (ibuprofen)

Boil time reduction : the science please

Agreed, but I've brewed plenty of clear beers as well with 30 minute boils.

Boil time reduction : the science please

I have been doing 30 minute boils for the last 2 years or so. When the "hazy" trend started gaining ground and the use of no boil hops became the norm, I decided to test shorter boil times. I then started doing this for all the hop forward beers, and other than the loss of a few OG points, I...

What came in the mail for you today?

I had soaked half my Fermonster with PBW to get some crud off and it left a film on the inside. I can only reach in the neck up to my forearm so I cannot reach the layer of film on the inside. Tried rinsing with Starsan and Iodophor with no avail. This is a soft sponge, no abrasive pad...

Grainfather vs Anvil Foundry vs Brewzilla vs ???

I have always run boiling wort through my March pump the last 10 minutes of my boil or at flameout to sanitize it before whirl-pooling or chilling. Never had an issue. My March and Pumpzilla perform much better than the one that came with the Anvil.
