    Defrosting Kegerator Question

No ice maker. Haier dual kegerator. From my experience, Samsung makes a good TV....that's about it.

    OK Thanks

    Defrosting Kegerator Question

I have to defrost my kegerator as the backplate has developed an ice block. Not surprising, and I have done this before, but with a hair dryer. Can I use a heat gun? Will it be too hot? I do not want to melt or burn anything. Thank you

    Endless Keg Phenomenon

I’ve thought of doing this, but after 5 gallons of any beer, I’m over it for awhile.

    Endless Keg Phenomenon

I suppose. It was the first pour of the day.

    Endless Keg Phenomenon

No. But I have had kegs that I drank much faster than I anticipated. 2-tap system. I try to keep one hoppy, and one malty on at all times to balance things out. I guess I think I drink more than I do sometimes.

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

I agree with you, but I can see why they don't. If you go onto any web-store and the first thing you see is "2 week Delay", unless they are the only store that sells what you want, they know you are most likely going to buy it somewhere else. I know I would. I do not agree about how when...

    Endless Keg Phenomenon

    I've had this happen too.

    Endless Keg Phenomenon

Anyone else experience this sometimes? You think your keg is close to kicking, with a beer ready to go as soon as it does. 8 pints later (not all at once - usually) and its still pouring. I must not drink as much as I use to, or maybe its just the anticipation of the new keg? And the kicker...

Closed Transfers (via bottom port) with Speidel 30L?

I thought of doing this, but it is really painstakingly slow. I like being able to keg and be cleaned up in 30 minutes. I also think the port on the Speidel is a bit too low. Always get trub in the line at first. I know they sell a diptube attachement for it, but its just another cog in...

    Dry Hop After Fermentation/in Keg

You could turn the gas off, and de-gas the keg for a day or 2. Relieving pressure as many times as you can. Every few hours or so Once you pull the ring on the keg an you get little to no hiss from gas escaping, you can open the lid and add dry hops in a tube or a bag. Seal the keg back up...

NEIPA/Hazy brew overly bitter - undrinkable

I've had so many issues with Galaxy. Totally dominate and overly bitter. I think the crops get worse and worse. I have stopped using it all together.

Closed Transfers (via bottom port) with Speidel 30L?

Although my plastic port on my Speidel never leaked, I replaced it with the staineless steel one that More Beer sells. It is more robust and easier to control the flow. I do not do closed transfers. I just make a slight opening where the airlock grommet is to not create suction.

What is your favorite way to increase efficiency in Anvil foundry?

I bought mine from www.brewinabag.com designed specifically for the Anvil malt pipe. I believe it is now exclusively sold through Anvil

What is your favorite way to increase efficiency in Anvil foundry?

I was getting roughly 60% efficiency when I first got it. That was no sparge, directly in the malt pipe. Its all a learning curve. After about 20 batches, I'm getting 72% on average. (I still base all my recipes on 65%) I dont realy chase the efficiency dragon. I know I will get 65% at...

Anvil Foundry sparge or no sparge?

I would inconsistently get between 60% and 72% BHE For my last beer I was aiming to make and 1.049 OG pale ale (calculated at 65% BH), actually OG was 1.058......so 80% BH efficiency. I'll take the win. I have never gotten that high before, not even with the old batch sparge setup. The...

What's the "weirdest" ingredient you've used?

The only non-standard ingredient I have even used was hazelnut extract in a keg of brown ale once (was trying to do a Rogue Hazelnut Brown clone.) Aside from that, I have added a shot of Frangelico to Stout or Porter on a few occasions.
