    Is this hydrometer......wrong?

If the water temp is correct for the calibration temp, then your hydrometer is under by .001.

Why do I get suck back at a stable temperature

That makes perfect sense! CO2 absorption never occurred to me. Thanks for that explanation.

Why do I get suck back at a stable temperature

I'm just curious if anyone out there can explain to me why I get suck back at a stable temperature when I cold crash. Let me explain. I ferment and cold crash in a converted wine fridge that is controlled by an Inkbird temperature controller. My fermenter is a converted Fermonster with ball...

    Frankenbrew - Noobrewer

Glad to hear that you had some keepers and that you're not giving up the gear. I'm sure you'll eventually find some time to break it out again and brew up a batch or more.

    Spice or Medicinal Mead (Metheglin

I was trying to reassure the OP that his mead was fermenting and that his suspicions on the stopper leaking were probably correct. I have no experience at all with mead protocol. I'm glad you jumped in with some good advice.

    Spice or Medicinal Mead (Metheglin

Let me say I've never made mead, but I've brewed a lot of beer and some wine. The krausen on top of the mead is caused by the release of CO2 as the yeast consumers the sugars and creates alcohol and CO2. You stopper is probably leaking which is why you're not seeing bubbles. Monitor the yeast...

What BIAB brewing actually is (Mythbusting for traditionalists)

I can't recall specific threads, but I do remember the overall sentiment from many 3 vessel brewers was that BIAB made inferior beer. Those views led to some intense threads. I loved it when the big guns showed up from each side. They were fun and full of great information.

I thought you were referencing his height and age before I took a 2nd look at the bottle. I was thinking that this thread was going in a very different direction. LOL!!!

How to seal leaky spigot/fermenter (possibly caused by heat?)

My Fermonster has one tapered washer that goes on the outside. Does anyone know where to source replacement tapered washers? I can't find them anywhere.

    Beer spas? Oooh or eeew?

I see it as an way for the wives to feel like they're supporting their husbands love for beer, and the husbands going along to support their wives. Neither really wanting to be there, but possibly enjoying it.

First Home Brew - Pickle Beer - What you think of my plan?

If you're serious about trying this and haven't been talked out of it already, I would try adding some pickle juice to a lager you already have in the fridge. Use small, measured amounts so you can get an idea where you want your beer to be. If you like the flavor and still want to brew it...

Gas v Electric Weed Whacker. Advice Please

All of my lawn equipment is gas powered. I don't like the idea of having to keep batteries charged all the time and not having them charged when I need them. I also like that I can service and maintain my gas equipment to keep them running strong for many years. I don't know what the...
