How long will crushed grains last that are in a bag in the fridge. I received a beer kit for Christmas. It was ordered about 3-4 weeks ago, and it's been in a refrigerator in the bag in a box since then. I plan to brew next week. But was just curious as to how the grains will be since its been...

    Northern Brewer Grapefruit Sculpin clone

A taste comparable to ballast point? Or would 3oz be better? I don't want to over-do it but I want it to be like the Grapefruit sculpin. I also don't mind waiting for it to condition to get the flavor right Also. Was it 2oz by weight, or 2oz by volume?

    DIY brew closet/kegerator build

I'm trying to figure out what to seal the wood with. (As far as color is concerned) in definitely going to lightly sand it just to get rid of splinters. But I can't decide if I should go with a clear sealer or just slightly darker. I don't want to go very dark just for the fact of the brew...

    DIY brew closet/kegerator build

I picked up a couple kegs. I traded them for some stuff (stuff I had gotten for free) so I practically got 2 corny kegs for free. The fridge was free. I have a co2 tank for free. I got the pallet wood for free. So far, I have build everything here for under $5 (I had to buy screws lol)

Bottle conditioning question- yeast flavor after 4 weeks

Figured I would update this. I live right outside Columbia, SC and we had the flooding last month. I am in the national guard and I was activated. So the point is that I was gone from the 5th-30th, giving the beer a few more weeks to condition. When I got home I poured one. The yeast smell was...

I think this is a good stopping point for tonight. Next I will attach the door, add some hardware. Clean up some of the details like the fake flooring under the fridge and sanding/sealing the wood

Table top is on and secured. Once I get the trim pieces I will move on to making a door for underneath.

    DIY brew closet/kegerator build

I think I found a combination that works. But I will need the "back splash" and side pieces for trim due to the planks being uneven. There are gaps on the sides. But I kinda like the looks so ill keep it.

    DIY brew closet/kegerator build

Well I finally got off military orders last week. I managed to get a little work done today. Started with test fitting the wood to see what pieces fit best. Being reclaimed wood, it's not perfect. Some pieces are warped so I'm trying to find what fits the best and hope the screws will hold it...
