    Sanke filling guidance!

You want to carb the sanke keg to 1-2 psi less than the corny keg. Keep the corny hooked up to CO2 to maintain the pressure in the corny. When you connect/start the flow from the corny it will flow until the pressures equalize. Once this happens crack the valve on the gas input on your sanke...

    Going All Electric

This is what I have been looking to do as well. My initial solution is to use 4500w elements in the HLT and Kettle and a 2000w RIMS. This theoretically with everything going keeps me at 46 amps so a little room to play with for the pumps. I've also looked at "upgrading" to a 60amp breaker to...

    Rack or no?

I can't remember where I saw it but I think the ratios are typically 50-60% 1 year, 30-40% 2 year, and then the remaining balance of 10-15% 3 year. If nothing else that should get you the ballpark and if I had to guess the percentage of 1 year may be higher.

    First Sour (updated pics)

the pellicle is just the bretts way of creating an oxygen barrier to protect itself. Since it looks like you have your beer in a plastic bucket I would go ahead and package as the oxygen levels are probably getting a bit high. If possible I'd use the thickest bottles you have to avoid any...

    Rack or no?

I think it all depends on how you plan on handling it long term. If it is just going to sit for the next 2-3 years I wouldn't rack. I've done this pretty successfully with keeping everything in primary for 12-18 months. I have just started a "solera" project in a half barrel sanke keg and for...

    Trading dregs?

I'd be interested. I have a brewing neighbor who is French and every time he goes he brings back a full suitcase full of lambic. Not sure what his cellar looks like at the moment but I'd be happy to prop up some dregs and send out to people next time we crack open a bottle.

    Flanders Red Questions

When I did my red I mashed with my crystal malts, I think it helps give the beer a bit of body even when finishing around 1.002. I do think your IBUs are a bit high, especially if it is first generation commercial pitches. Most lacto won't sour above 10 IBU and some are sensitive at lower...

    Lawnmower beer recipe help

When it comes to Carapils vs White Wheat I would just use whatever you have on hand. Personally I am eliminating Carapils from my beers as I feel like it doesn't really do anything compared to just using more base malt.

    First Sour (updated pics)

    - Was it 1.022 before or after you racked onto the blackberries? If it was after that would explain the "high" gravity. - I would definitely would take another gravity sample before bottling. 1.010 is pretty high for a mixed culture beer. What has your fermentation temperature been? If you...

Found cheap Brew Kettle from Restaurant Supply Store

I brewed for years with an aluminum 7.5 gallon tamale steamer that I got at Walmart. Worked great and was a super cheap way for me to get my first "full size" kettle when I switched to all grain brewing.

    pH meter options

I have the Omega PHH-7011 (here) and would definitely recommend it. It is definitely on the high end of the price spectrum but it works great. I'm amazed at how well it holds its accuracy. I know that it isn't a best practice but I only have to calibrate it every couple months and it is...

    Boysenberry Blonde Ale Recipe Help!

I'd start by making a basic 4.8-5% blonde ale and then add 1 can (49oz) of Vintner's Harvest Boysenberry once fermentation is complete. The other route to go would be to use the Amoretti branded purees that come in the pump bottles. Brew and package your blonde ale and then you can add the...

    Kegland Cannular

Cannular The instructional video for this popped up in my Youtube feed the other day. Not sure if it is just sold out or is being released next month. I'd assume it would take some time for it to come to the US but since it runs on 24v I would think that should mean we could get it faster...

What to pair with El Dorado in an APA?

I think splitting the Amarillo between the whirlpool and the dry hop is the best option. Maybe go a touch heavier on the El Dorado to compensate
