    Dry Hopping Question

Thanks for the advise, I'll see if they're easy to fish out Friday without agitating the beer. If not I'll leave it in there. In regards to space in the bag, I had double and did the same amount as I had initially done in the boil so it did look good. As I was planning to cold crash on the...

    Dry Hopping Question

Hi all, I missread the recipe for the neipa that am making and I dry hopped at day 3 instead of only for 3 days. I'm now on day for and was planning to dry hop again on Friday. My question is, when I dry hop the new bag should I fish out the old one? I'm using citra, Galaxy and mosaic hops...

New Project - Honey Mango Hefeweizen

Update: So the beer did turn out pretty great. The mango is a lot more suitable than I was thinking it would be. I would definitely make this batch again, but first I'd want to try it with only Citra and a wlp 300 instead to add a bit more banana.

    Concerns for first brew...

Hi Mongoose, What type/size of fermenter is that in the fridge? I like your setup and am thinking of copying you. Thanks,

New Project - Honey Mango Hefeweizen

So far the clove flavor has been pretty on point. I didn't want to add whole cloves as I think that would be more difficult to balance in that it would if it were imparted from the yeast. I am also getting a more subtle banana than I thought I would from the wlp380, I just added in the mangos...

New Project - Honey Mango Hefeweizen

I'm trying to replicate a mango hef I had from a local brewery. It has very strong clove undertones with a subtle mango flavor. I thought about just making it with an ale yeast, but I wasn't sure how to replicate the clove in that situation.

New Project - Honey Mango Hefeweizen

Hi All, I'm working on a new beer recipe and was interested to see what you all think. It's currently fermenting so it's going to be more of an explanation so we'll see how this goes. I started out with 7.5 lbs of American Wheat (american because i started making it on the 4th) 3 lbs of...

    Fridge for fermentation chamber

I want to give this a try and will post results. I'll also try to take my bucket into a store and see if everything fits. Should I worry about the CO2 released from fermentation? I figure if i did a blowoff inside of the fridge it wouldn't effect anything would it? Thanks in advance.

    Fridge for fermentation chamber

Hi all, I'm interested in getting a fridge for fermentating, I'm limited on space and I've been looking at a 4.4cu ft fridge to convert. The problem it seems is that you have to build it out with wood, and my girlfriend isn't keen at all on that idea because the fridge would be in the dining...

    Interested in kegging

I hadn't looked into jockey boxes as I'd need to chill it each time I wanted a beer. I think what I'm leaning towards is getting a small keg 2.5gallon, and then bottling the other half of the batch that I make. Im sure I can fit a keg that size into my fridge with room to spare.

    Interested in kegging

Hi, I'm still relatively new to homebrewing and one of the things that I hate is bottling. It's time consuming and outside of about 4 weeks the bottles stop tasting as good as they did the day I was bottling. I'm interested in kegging to save time and slightly improve the quality of my brew. I...

    When to put the raspberry?

I like to let fermentation pretty much be done (about 10-14 days in). Once fermentation is done, I'll add the frozen fruit on top or rack to a secondary. I don't pour straight from the bag though, I add from a sanatized pan. To sanatize the pan I simply boil water for a few minutes with the lid...

    Keeping Temps Down for Fermentation

I always thought that hef's were supposed to be easier. I was thinking the problem was that they are more like lagers and very prone to temperature. I haven't had issues with Temperature when I just put the ice in the closet too, keeps it at 72°

    Keeping Temps Down for Fermentation

HI All, I attempting to make a Hefeweizen recently, and to keep it cool, tried the swamp cooler. The problem that i ran into with this is that when i put the hef into it i dropped a 1 gallon water jug to keep the temps down. It fermented at what i think was 60* or so, but i wasn't able to amply...

    Mango American Ale Help

I had Bottled this about 2 weeks ago, i tried one at 1 week after bottling tastes pretty good. The only thing i noticed was, as i got towards the bottom of the beer it started to taste tart (i was drinking it out of a glass). I'm wondering if this is because the Yeast ate all the sugar in the...
