    Contant Temperature Change

That's what I thought, it seems to be pretty active though. I've kept it wrapped up in blankets, any other ideas to keep it warm next time around? I'm sure it's too late to really "save" it I pitched the yeast last Friday night.

    Contant Temperature Change

I'm fermenting a Hefe and I believe I read that the yeast I used (WYeast 3068) should be kept between 64-75 degrees however my carboy has been dropping to as low as 58 degrees. Is this going to "hurt" my beer???

    What's in my beer???

The glass I poured it in got a quick rinse because it was in the cupboard but I probably should give them a good hand washing. We usually hand wash our glass but lately with family over for the holidays me and my gf get backed up on dishes and have been just throwing everything in the...

    What's in my beer???

It's more of an oil slick film. I popped open a bottle early, that's why there's no head, but overall I'm pleased with the taste and smell, I'm just displeased with this oil slick across my glass...hopefully it doesn't show up in the next batch.

    What's in my beer???

I need help identifying what this is. I'm referring to what appears to be a soap looking film across the top of my beer. I have a hunch it might be from my tap water as brewed this batch with water straight from my kitchen sink. Perhaps the minerals and slight notes of chlorine? I drink the...

    So Cal Hops

It's an unfortunate after effect of developing housing next to a mountain. This is why I've greatly considered growing in pots.

    So Cal Hops

This whole area is full of rocks, I'm in alta loma, and all I do is dig up rocks!

    So Cal Hops

I was thinking about building an awning of some sort, to provide shade and a solid foundation for the vines to grow on, instead of twine or rope. I don't have a lot of soil area though so I was thinking of keeping them in pots.

    So Cal Hops

Calling all Southern California growers! I'm looking for advice/help in growing hops in this dry and hot region of the USA. The soil around my house is pretty dried out and dead, the grass barely grows on it! So I'm looking into possibly growing in planters, I've read a couple articles on that...

    Growing patterns by location?

Thanks David for the heads up, I know it can easily get to 100 down here in the summer, this last year it didn't even seem we had a spring, we went straight from winter to summer. Cram: I've been worried about the winds too and curious to their effects on the crop. Has there been any extra...

    Growing patterns by location?

I'm curious to find out if growing hops in certain areas of the country produce different results, most of the threads I've read are brewers based in the mid-west or east coast, where I happen to be in the heart of Southern California. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a proper set up? We...

    Best Ingredient Purchase Sites

This is very resourceful for me, I'm just starting out. I ended up buying a brew kit from NB, just to get me introduced to and really understand the process but my main goal is to get into all grain so seeing these other suppliers is quite an eye opener. However it seems to me that they're...
