    Temp for secondary ferment

If I have a lager in primary ferment at around 65, should the secondary ferment be at the same temp or cooler?

    secondary ferment

Quick question.... my primary ferment is going at about 65 degrees. Can or should my secondary ferment be cooler just the same?

    Brew belt?

Anyone tried this thing? My basement is a little too cold in the winter but it doesn't look like it would work. Any thoughts???

    Co2 tank question

Great, I'm glad to hear that I don't need to drill any holes then. I'm just going to put the whole set up in the fridge.

    I'm new here

Thanks a lot. I'm really excited about brewing again. I remember how good it was and I hadn't even gotten good at it yet at that time. I can't wait to see what a little practice gets me!

    secondary ferment

Yeah, I still have to sanitize the second one but I just started fermenting so I have a while yet. I'm just going to use the bottling bucket with a lid on it since I'm not going to be bottling this batch. It's going right into the corny keg.

    secondary ferment

I'm glad I asked then. Thanks. I assumed wrong....you know what happens when you assume! So I just transfer it to another fermenter, cover and continue to ferment? I like the sound of that.

    secondary ferment

I have never done a secondary ferment and I'm thinking about doing one when this first one is done. What, exactly, do I do? I'm assuming that I just do the yeast thing again once I siphon the beer into another fermenter. Is this correct? Should I get the same yeast they gave me in the...

    scorching/burning

That's a good idea, if I get something between the flame and the pot it would be less likely to burn it. Thanks.

    scorching/burning

Yeah, this was a Heineken clone kit at the local HBS. They put them together themselves there I guess. After steeping 3 lbs of grain I had to add 3.3lbs of light malt extract I think?

    scorching/burning

Will it be worth it to do a secondary fermentation? It didn't burn that bad. It was just a thin ring. I noticed a few (not many at all) of those flakes in there but I don't know.

    I'm new here

I still wish I never lost all the equipment because I just bought the exact same kit I used to have but that part didn't cost that much anyway I guess. I think the equipment kit was about $60. It's the Co2 setup that was costly...but I think it will be worth it!

    Co2 tank question

Yeah, I originally wasn't sure about getting the kit because I didn't want to drill the fridge. Then I went ahead because I figured, it's just an old spare fridge. But when I thought about it and realized that it might be colder outside the fridge than inside the fridge sometimes (at least...

    scorching/burning

Okay, so I scorched a little bit on the bottom of the pot during boiling. It wasn't very much so I'm not too worried but just wanted some input. I have a gas stove so it's pretty potent and heats up quick. Once it scorched the pot a little, I backed off on the heat a bit but it never...

    I'm new here

I just bought a starter equipment kit yesterday and brewed a batch (clone kit) today. I had the same starter equipment (true brew) about 10 years ago and brewed 2 batches and got frustrated with the clean up so it sat for years and then got lost in a move. I decided to get back into it again and...

    Co2 tank question

Anyone know if it matters if you put the Co2 tank inside the fridge w/ the corny keg or not? I have read and heard both ways. I will be using a fridge that is in my breezeway (basically outdoors) and it gets very cold in winter here (upstate NY). Any suggestions?
