    Not sure, but I have been using one and noticed that the temp on my carboy tape thermometer is a bit higher than the thermometer I keep floating in the swampwater. I guess that points to "yes".

    I have had serious temperature control issues because of climate and poor insulation. Current batch I put the carboy in a large plastic tub filled with water and a floating thermometer, that way I can add a little ice/warm water to keep the water temp ideal. It takes work but has yielded...
