Malt muncher 3 roller loves to rust

When I called more beer the told me to clean it with barkeepers friend which I did and after it was discolored which I thought was strange. Has anyone else experienced this?

Malt muncher 3 roller loves to rust

I don't believe my garage is anymore humid than any other brewer in North Carolina which is why I'm suspicious. I don't have mold or mildew or anything like that. I have a low quality stainless steel sink that doesn't rust. Anything else that could rust in my garage doesn't rust.

Malt muncher 3 roller loves to rust

Thanks for the response! I am not milling wet grain. This thing had actually formed rust before I ever used it. I unboxed it and had it half put together. A couple weeks later I went to finish so I could use it and it had rust. I cleaned it, used it, put it on the shelf and two weeks later when...

Malt muncher 3 roller loves to rust

That's for the response guys. I will try an upload a better photo. These spots are orange / red and flakey like what you would see with oxidation of metal. I do not have any grain storage and there is no other evidence of rodents.

Malt muncher 3 roller loves to rust

So I don't knownwhat the deal is because apparently no one else has this problem but my mill just wants to rust. I bought it on sale from more beer and was pumped, first mill ever. It sat brand new in my garage for a month before I could use it, rusted... got it cleaned up and after it still had...

    Looking into cold brew coffee

We've been making cold brew for a few years and have always done it warm and 95% of the time for 24 hours or longer. For a while we had a 1 gallon kit from Amazon, I would leave the grinds in on the counter till it was gone. This would usually only be about 6 days but towards the end it was...

    Looking into cold brew coffee

I'm doing this now actually and I realized that I may carb my coffee even at 5 psi? Not sure trying to find an answer as well. Af far as coffee and water you can use any coffee you like. If you grind whole beans keep it course other you can use pre ground. For amounts we do around 4 cups coffee...

    Maltzilla

I am in the market for a mill and this one caught my eye. I like the thought process of the diamond roller function but the way you have to ghetto a hopper together bothers me and all in all it seems like a work in progress from the manufacture. People who own this do you recommend it or is a...

    Utility sink size?

I went ahead and bought the the sink I linked previous. Honestly for the money it seems fine to me. It was shipped quickly but poorly and came with a broken weld where the backboard attaches to the basin. There is also a crack in the same top corner which is a concern because it could crack all...

SS Utility sink size and brand

I think I'm just going to buy it. I don't want to running around for a month trying to find a used one from a restaurant. Plus they make coatings for SS to help protect it from rust. And the issue with the bottom slope and drainage seems like it can easily be fixed with a rubber hammer.

Spike brewing posted a pic to their instagram page showing the use of a sight glass. The thought of doing something similar has been bouncing around in my head.

Glycol chiller for small time home brewer

So you think you could cool 180 °F wort to ale pitch temps with your chiller? I'm using a counter flow chiller which is new to me. Works very well at 50°F ground water so 38°F glycol or colder should work great I'm thinking.

Glycol chiller for small time home brewer

I have been looking into making one. I'm curious of the size ac you got and what you think of the capacity? I would like to use the chiller for not only fermentation control but also cooling wort post boil.

    Spike Solo Owner's Thread

I brewed my first batch with the 20 gal and I have setup a tube that I hooked up to the whirlpool port and tied to the handle to monitor liquid level when recirculating so that is helpful. I am concerned about the even liquid distribution over the grain bed though and have heard of some people...

SS Utility sink size and brand

What if I hit the bottom with a rubber hammer really hard a lot of times think I can make the slope better?! hahaha But yes that is a resource I have not investigated yet. I will look into that, fingers crossed.

SS Utility sink size and brand

I am in the exact same boat looking at those same sinks! The second one you have listed is the biggest one I can find that I can put a giant 20 gal kettle in. I have that sink in my cart ready to pull the trigger but I have the same concern with the negative reviews. What did you decide on?

    DIY glycol heat pump?

I have seen homemade glycol chillers made from window AC units which is cool. I love building stuff like this and it got me thinking... It looks like you can buy little window heat pumps, like a normal window AC but can also heat. This is usually done by switching a reversing valve on the...
