    When is my brew ready?

I would buy an autosiphon. Perhaps that's what I have? it's a tube and plunger that you pump... and siphons the brew.

    When is my brew ready?

I took a hydro meter reading for the last 3 days... before I racked to secondary (the hydro meter) was constant.... no change. My pail has no spigot... I have a tube with a pump/plunger to bottle and track the brew. So just put the sugar into the pail, then rack from carboy to pail would be...

    When is my brew ready?

I had my brew in primary for 2.5-3 weeks... I moved to secondary (a day ago). When can I bottle it? And when should I bottle it. Also the recipe says to add 1-1 /12 cups of corn sugar to the brew before I bottle. Anyone this is what my recipe says to do... When I'm ready to bottle...

Question - Moved from primary to secondary

Yes I did a hydro reading the last 3 days... there was no change... so I racked in in secondary.... So is it benifitting me at all to to keep the brew in the secondary? Since it has been in primary for 3 weeks? As Andri stated the yeast is still working -- what exactly is it doing?

Question - Moved from primary to secondary

My brew has been in primary for three weeks... I moved it to secondary today (glass carboy) I added a yeast nutrient as my recipe instructed... and sealed the carboy with the special little cap... Should I see bubbles in that cap? Or is the yeast finished all it can do? Thanks

    Bottles

Oxiclean? is that the powered stuff you by at a store? Will the mold need to be scraped out?

    Bottles

I've gathered some empties from some of my friends.... but unfortunately most of the empty's have mold in the bottem... IE most people who do not not brew their own beer... just drink the comercial beer and not clean... Should I just throw these bottles out? Or should I try to remove the mold?

Taste test from my first home brew

I'm fairly impressed... I sampled my primary today... it's been fermenting now for 6 days now in primary.... I'm brewing the following recipe... Muntons PLC Premium Range Canadian style ale. The beer appears to be darker, almost honey-brown... The initial taste of the beer surprised me...

    My first Hydrometer reading

I may have goofed up :( I was my hands... but I kinda use my hand to get the beer in to the beaker... I should have used my syphon.... which means it will probably get infected? Should I shoot it out? and start over? Re-read the meter... my error my reading is 1.03... the 65 is another colum...

    My first Hydrometer reading

Couple more things... it it safe to take a sip of the bear from the baker I used to take the readings? And once the hydro readings stay constant, that means it' can be racked to secondary correct?

    My first Hydrometer reading

One last last question and I really appreciate all the help... is it safe to sip the beer in it's current state?

    My first Hydrometer reading

Thanks so much for you patients... it would appear my hydro reading is 1.0365 (does this seem right) But on my meter I also see an "Alcohol by volume" reading.... To have 5 percent alcohol you need an reading of approx. 1.04 But according to my reading now.... my alcohol reading is below 5%...

    My first Hydrometer reading

My OG was 1.04.... I looked at my meter and it's .65 -- I have two sets of numbers on my hydro-meter... Top of meter First set of numbers Second set of numbers 80 90 1.00 10 26 20 52 30...

    My first Hydrometer reading

From what I understand I need a reading of 1.010 before I move to secondary. My primary has been setup now for 4 days.... my hydrometer reading indicates is at 52, which I persume is .52? As I understand the alcohol level is low.... and I'm guessing the more time it spends in primary,t he...

    Bubbles during racking

Well I'm going to use the secondary for my first batch... and perhaps get a lid when I do another batch... though I like the idea of the carboy to watch and observe my brew.... as of now it's in the white pale and I cannot see much. Aswell as the taste of beer, I'd like to watch the process...

    Bubbles during racking

I just looked at my brew now... I don't see no bubbles? Should I? Is something wrong? I smell yeast and there's a thick brown foam ontop.

    Bubbles during racking

I'm new to this... just set up my first brew yesterday... curious... What does the term rack mean? "I was racking from primary to secondary ( I know I know its an unecessary risk)" Why is it a risk? I should not do this? My primary doesn't have fermentation lock (instructions that brew...
