lol just gave the number from my abv calculator from my hyrdrometer readings for the abv ;) I am going to take your advice and see if I can get it going again. Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it very much.
I did this recipie and fermentation stopped at 1.022. I am new to wine making, does anyone know what my next steps here should be? Any help is appreciated.
I use s05 in my barley wine and have never had an issue and that is without re-hydrating. I use 2 packs for 5.5 gallons and works like a charm. In fact my barley wine took 3rd best of show at the fair last year. You should be fine using one pack for 2.5 gal. Somehow I was able to pull 12.7% abv...
I used to take them all apart like that and clean them. However some were not as easy as others and some would never seal the same again. The owner of my LHBS told me they are not meant to be taken apart other than the spigot part for cleaning.

For extract bring water to a boil, remove from heat, stir in LME, return to heat. Bring it to a boil, after the "hot Break" you want to add the hops. So after the foam in the boil calms down add the hops and start your timer. My 2 pennies

I cold crash for a week before kegging. When kegging I will set it to 30psi and shake the hell out of it for 5 minutes. I leave it at 30psi for 48 hours, then reduce it to 12-14psi and start drinking after 48 hours. I am too impatient to wait weeks to drink my beer after being kegged. Even if I...
I have froze an octoberfest before on accident. when thawed it was still great and even held carbonation! I know a brewer that does this on purpose. So he can open the keg and scoop the ice off of the top. I would thaw and pour a pint!
I brew 40-50 gallons a month and don't consider myself a raging alcoholic lol. I have 14 kegs and always have a huge assortment of beers to choose from. My beer goes to friends, I will bottle from the keg and share my beer with friends and family. Not to mention I always give beer to my mentor...
