    Good Eastern European Beer

I doubt the Berkely, CA brewery counts as eastern Europe, but this is my favorite Pilsner: Award winning European beer, Trumer Pils, now available in DFW | pegasusnews.com | Dallas / Fort Worth

    Converting PA Recpie to IPA

I have three versions of the fairly hoppy Firestone-Walker Pale Ale in that thread. My most recent take was the last post in thread ten minutes ago. The short version is use nobles (Golding, Fuggles, Saaz or Tett) at 60 and 30, then use a USA high alpha hop for the (15) and (5), HBU for HBU...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Still playing with this one in my spare time. I got two other posts in this thread with math. What I have been doing is using the base grains as a known springboard to learn about hops. I just cracked one 9 days early, I bottled this 12 days ago and it is going to just flat rock. In a...

    IPA kit recommendations

I made the Munton's IPA kit as my second batch ever back in the day. It was OK. Brew the one you can get easily. Focus on steeping your grains at 155°F so you can step up to PM sooner rather than later. Enjoy your beer.

How many gallons of Brandon O's Graff have been made?

75.5+ 8 = 83.8. My third batch (Marris Otter and Fuggles) seems to be stable at 1.010, I'll probably bottle tommorrow. I split my first five gallons at bottling.... Ya know what? graff = german name. My next batch will be three gallons again, but I am going with Saaz and Pilsner malt...

How do you clean your plastic primary?

If you get on it quick while everything is still damp a quarter scoop of OxyClean in 3-4 gallons ought to be plenty. Soft non scratching whatever, bare hands, sponge, terry cloth, it's all good. I am down to using 1/8 of a scoop of OxyClean for a Corny keg, including all the little pieces...

Need a suggestion for a low alcohol ale

I am about to redux my Wing Nut Pale Ale. OG 1.040, FG 1.011 = 3.5% ABV. My mom liked the first batch; but it is #4 in my brewlog and my recent tasting notes are a lot more thorough than they were back then. I have a thread going a little fursther down this same page...

    Anyone else up

I don't recall the time. Between 7 and 8 PM local. She is as strong minded (OK, so we are both stubborn) as I am. Date for the date is TBA, but at least she said yes.

    Anyone else up

I am up, but it's only 1043PM in Alaska. I did ask a certain girl to go out with on a first date back on 07-08-09. 07-11 pitch date is cool. Good luck.

90 minute boil for pm grain quantities?

Anytime you are brewing with Pilsner malt you want to boil it hard and long. Really. 30 more minutes of propane is a lot cheaper than ending up with five gallons of butter-beer.

New suggestions sought for oatmeal stout

When I use oats I toast them at 350 until they start smelling like toasted oats (about an hour), then waft or set or whatever for at least a week. The first time through I was having oat meal for breakfast every morning, I alternated untoasted with toasted for two weeks. After about a week...

Need some pointers on a very pale ale

So I can "start brewing" Friday night and, well, you know, RDWHAHB. Plus I am too cheap to purchase 5.2whatever when the barley comes with phytase in it already.

Need some pointers on a very pale ale

This was my first seat of the pants brew (#4 in the log) a couple years ago. I was (and am) shooting for something home-made for the BMC light crowd that isn't swill. My mom likedit, I am mostly thinking about upping the hops a tiny little bit. Grains: 2# pilsner 2# light Munich 2#...

    milk stout and imperial stout

I haven't had an actual milk stout, thogh the silky creaminess of Sam Smith's oatmeal stout is worth a sample. I will say Sam Smith's is my favorite among breweries currently operating in England. Except for maybe JW Lees.

    milk stout and imperial stout

I think the Sam Adams Imperial Stout compares favorably to the Old Rasputin, but I like the Old Rasputin better. Certainly try Sam Smith's Imperial Stout too. Stone brewery down in San Diego couty makes a really good one, forget the name. Of those four the Sam Adams is my least favorite.

    dry hopping

That will work. As you collect containers you can eventually toss in all your coriander and dryhop and so on and then rack off the dry add stuff to an empty. Lots of these do well, I find, with as much as a month of bulk aging off the dry adds before bottling. If your recipe calls for seven...

    Cold Component Keg Creativity

Overcarbed Keg? Here's an INSTANT SOLUTION!

This looks curiously like another handy function of an adjustable spunding valve ;-) Cross linked. Other stuff to do with an adjustable pressure relief valve:https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f13/cold-component-keg-creativity-50550/

Brewing with tap water -- from the HOT faucet

I skipped pages and three and four, didn't vote. I have done just enough plumbing repair to make an ass/u/me/shun. I think the minerals want to precipitate, but the water has to cool down for that to happen. In a relatively new system the minerals will be deposited evenly around the...

How long is too long too leave in fermenter??

Anything over 1.060OG I would just be thinking about maybe bottling this month anyway. Something around 1.040 might be a little past peak depending, but it probably won't suck if your sanitation was good. I specifically made a midweight and heavyweight ale alreadythis summer, both are...
