    How much do you buy?

I think it's important to buy hops in bulk. I use hopsdirect.com. I typically think about a few batches I want to make in the next couple of months and buy common hops in bulk. Or, if you have a friend that homebrews you can always go in with him/her on hops. If you don't have friends that...

Who should I buy brewing equipment/recipes/grain/etc. from online and why?

Love me some AHS. I have been to their store too - always fresh.

Quick advice for a hops question!

It's often times called "flame out." You just keep them in the wort while you chill it. When you transfer to your carboy or bucket, no need to include the hops you added at 0 min. Good luck! I have made that several times and though it doesn't taste exactly like the original, it's a damn good...

Welcome! I would suggest checking Craigslist periodically.

    Spec's.... Will you marry me?

Dude, Nice beer run. I am from Houston originally (my parents still live there) and Spec's goes off when it comes to beer. I can remember being a kid and my Dad asking them to bring in beers of his liking from around the globe and they would do what they could to get it in. That place is...

    Fridge or Freezer?

I assume we are talking about ales? Have you ever tried serving them warmer? I am not trying to call you out by any means but I used to serve at the same temp and learned from this forum that I should serve warmer to allow the beer it's full potential. Try it and see what you think. I have...

    KCBrewer's Garage Brewery

That looks damn good but not near as good as those slabs of ribs in your avatar. I see you also appreciate homebrew and smoked goodness. Cheers!

California Common California Common (Anchor Steam Clone) Extract and AG

Total NOOB question here - so I brewed this yesterday as my first AG batch. I have done countless extract and PMs in the past so I am not new to brewing by any means. My question is, why does this recipe say it is a 7 gal boil when the water required for mashing does not equal 7 gal? 13.75...

    Versatile Cooler for Mash Tun

I just finished my coleman xtreme mash tun this past weekend. First AG this weekend. I am pretty stoked and glad to hear it holds pretty well.

Preferred fridge/freezer design for kegs & bottles?

You could probably get a small fridge for bottles and a freezer to turn into a keezer for nothing on craigslist if you looked.

    Keezer Question

He's right. Keg Lube is a savor long term. I second getting more O-rings. They're cheap but so important. The only other thing you might want to consider is a temperature controller. You don't need it to dispense but it will keep your freezer from freezing and at the right temp.

    Sam Adams Infinium

I just had it today at a buddy's house that we were doing a joint brew day at. It happened to be one of the guys' birthdays so it seemed appropriate. I thought it was good. Very unique. It would be cool to serve at a dinner party - but it's not your everyday drinker.

Keg dryhopping - how do you do it?

Mesh balls are key. You can probably find them at the grocery store too. I did.

How anti-climatic would this thread be if no one offered any deals this year? subscribed.

    2010 Sam Adams Winter Classis

I usually reserve they Cranberry Lambic for beer butt chicken or making bread. I think it is terrible to drink.

Breweries to visit on way from Texas to Missouri?

Oh, and if you are going through Manhattan KS check out Tallgrass. They are super cool.

Breweries to visit on way from Texas to Missouri?

I live in OK and there are more and more breweries popping up but unfortunately with our whack laws here breweries can not do "tours" per se but at the same time I have had most of them open the doors to me if you let them know you are "coming by." COOP Ale Works is a fast growing brewery here...
